Sick of fucking fireworks

I know, I know they look pretty and they’re legal and ‘fun’.

But ffs my street sounds like a warzone. Neighbour couple doors down has had them on several times since the weekend, in his garden. Currently got them
on again, sounds like it’s right outside my window. I’m just waiting for one to hit my roof (paranoid obvs, but was in the local papers last year)

He’s not been the only one either.

I wish they’d just restrict them to licensed venues already.

Fucking hate them.

I agree with you.

My dog is on some anxiety medication for it and although it’s helped, she’s not “cured” and she’s terrified. We’ve had them going off since last month but that’s later than last year.

I hate them anyway. So noisy and dangerous but you’d think the novelty would have worn off by now...

InertPotato · 07/11/2018 20:30

My dog has also lost her marbles. She's been panting and pacing for about 72 hours.

Really fed up.

InertPotato · 07/11/2018 20:30

Oh, and drooling.

BMW6 · 07/11/2018 20:33

I think it must be Vahsaki (sp?) night as all my Asian neighbours are letting off fireworks all around us (and in the park 20 feet from our house). Dogs not happy at all.....

aibutohavethisusername · 07/11/2018 20:34

There may be more this evening because it is Diwali.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 07/11/2018 20:38

I'm shattered and really need an early night but the bangs are numerous and loud and look to be going on till late :(.

lolaflores · 07/11/2018 20:40

Fucking pissed off with it is. Been going on since mid last week. Just give over now. Expectingnloads tonight then the usual stragglers and another surge at the weekend.

MonsterTequila · 07/11/2018 20:42

@BMW6
I’m guessing you mean Diwali?

Bluebolt · 07/11/2018 20:43

My dog has ate part of my skirting board, I was only out between 5.30 and 6 pm. We cannot leave him alone after dark until sometime mid January.

AnonyMousee · 07/11/2018 20:43

I don't see the point in doing them at home. They're expensive and shit. If people who did them at home spent the same amount to go see decent displays, then there could just be more organised displays in every area. 30 minutes long, everyone shows up and grabs a hot chocolate then heads home. Much easier, safer, cheaper and pleasing for all parties involved I think.

EmbraRocks · 07/11/2018 20:44

It's horrific- neighbours horse has injured itself in its stable from idiots setting them off in its field, dog is not happy at all

taffywaffy · 07/11/2018 20:45

I live in the whitest area imaginable. There is zero multiculturalism where I am. If they were celebrating Diwali around here I wouldn’t have minded so much. Just think that this lot are very firework happy.

Jimmers · 07/11/2018 20:46

Most of the ones in gardens are shit anyway - all bang and little sparkle. Don’t understand the obsession with letting them off. Takes all the excitement out of going to a proper display.

mimibunz · 07/11/2018 20:48

Agree with you, OP. They’re so loud and obnoxious. My cat has spent 4 nights sleeping under my bed.

POPholditdown · 07/11/2018 20:48

Poor doggiesSad

My cats have managed to find brand new hiding places tonight, think I might join them.

There should atleast be mandatory public notices, or just something

(neighbours still going here)

NOTthepinkranger · 07/11/2018 20:49

Also sick of them, some idiot set them off at 1.20 yesterday morning, he was asked why his excuse was he works shifts Hmm fireworks are shit literally burning your money and there’s no need for them to be loud!

Wish they were illegal to the public too tbh.

Skittlesandbeer · 07/11/2018 20:51

These kinds of fireworks have been illegal (and properly policed) for as long as I can remember in Australia. Only licensed professionals can get permits to use them, and then in limited ways/advertised times.

It is a horribly antisocial thing to do in built-up areas, and so dangerous for kids, drunk people and pets. I can only shudder at how it must be if you’re very ill (mentally or physically), or have an infant in the house and some neighbour is letting these things off intermittently.

You guys should petition for an end to it. It’s not some unalienable human right, it’s something everyone would get used to fairly quickly.

daughterofanarchy · 07/11/2018 20:53

I hate fireworks- I had a very horrible fear of the loud noise from fireworks as a child and it stayed with me. I lived in an Asian area (I am also Asian and celebrate Diwali) and at Diwali and also bonfire night my anxiety would go through the roof. I live elsewhere now and its bonfire night (and a few days after) that are the hardest. Last night some really loud ones were going off and I could feel myself panicking all over again.

MemoryOfSleep · 07/11/2018 20:54

Preach. Ought to be banned from sale to the public.

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/231147

There you go.

Hollanda · 07/11/2018 20:54

They drive me up the wall.

They wake my kids up. They stop me sleeping. They are dangerous.

I hate them.

YANBU.

daughterofanarchy · 07/11/2018 20:54

I wouldn’t mind so much if the fucking things just weren’t so loud

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 07/11/2018 20:58

We've currently got some going off, we've had them every night for weeks and weeks. They don't bother me however I feel sorry for the poor animals, my DM's dogs are terrified everytime they go off.

POPholditdown · 07/11/2018 21:00

There’s a lot of vulnerable people living nearby, here. Sheltered housing and bungalows behind me. The neighbour is setting them off at the back of his garden, so pretty much at the back of someone else’s property.

I did give a ‘fuck you’ glare through the window, not sure if they saw me but they’re still going.

I saw a petition has been started a couple of days ago, too. I’m going to sign it later, but not sure what good it’ll do.

That’s terrible embra were they actually trespassing too?

OP posts:
FellSwoop · 07/11/2018 21:00

So annoying....they've been nightly (as late as midnight) here since before Halloween. Also one of the whitest towns in the country so Diwali is nothing to do with it...just inconsiderate dickbaggery.

POPholditdown · 07/11/2018 21:01

Thanks MemoryOfSleep, that’s the one! Signing it now
