M & S Dine In For Two. BAD Decision.

to think that M & S have made a huge mistake in stopping their Dine in for Two Deal.
In my local shop, the area where they usually have this deal was virtually empty. Normally you have to fight your way to the front! I think customers are voting their disgust with their purses.

I think it's a bad decision to scrap it altoghether. I didn't mind when they hiked it to £12, because it was still worth it for the wine.
Now they have some wanky deal where you pick and choose and the same equivalent items would come to £16.

The whole idea before, was that the customer didn't have to think about things. You grabbed your main, side, desert and vino. Job done.
Most customers picked up other items while they were in there, so they still made money. it was a lost leader of sorts.

If it aint broke don't fix it.

The tesco one is better

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 06/11/2018 19:19

@timetodothis it’s back next month. It’s only temporary

I always liked to get a whole chicken in these days, worked out really good value. For those items. The remaining £60 worth of stuff finding its way into my trolley, perhaps not so good value.

So I definitely agree with you that it is a loss leader, if indeed it was ever at a loss.

Deals not days!

Newdad19 · 06/11/2018 19:32

They always stop it and bring it back

IvorHughJarrs · 06/11/2018 19:46

I'm shocked that people think they can get quality food at these prices

BarbaraofSevillle · 06/11/2018 19:51

Exactly Ivor. If you got the wine and the chicken, the side and the pudding were effectively free, so if people weren't buying other things in the shop, I can see how it was unprofitable.

There had also been a noticeable drop in amount/quality over the past few years and while I used to get it quite a lot, I haven't bothered for ages, mainly because I didn't really like the wine, or most of the puddings, making it pointless.

I think customers are voting their disgust with their purses.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this sounds?

Disgust? Really? Because a shop (whose business is to make a profit) has made a decision not to offer a deal any more? If you don't like it, buy something somewhere else.

I thought they always stop it, temporarily, for the festive season?
