So mad at Interflora - what can I do?

I went online first thing this morning to order flowers for delivery tomorrow. It had to be tomorrow as my friend is going into hospital the following day for serioius treatment and these were to cheer her up and wish her luck for the operation. I selected a special, which had a widget that enabled you to check that the bouquet was available in your area before purchasing. I checked and it was, so I ordered. 2 hours later I get a call from their call centre. Their agent informed me that the florist in that location did not have the flowers requested (despite having checked) so would offer an alternative. When I asked what alternative, they said 'other flowers'. I was not happy with this option as it meant trusting the florist to provide a good alternative, despite the fact they didn't seem to stock basic blooms. I was told that in order to order another option off the site I would have to cancel this order and go and re-order from the site. So I did, only to be called 3 hours later to be told the florist did not have these blooms either. I asked what alternative they could offer and was told that as it was after hours they could do nothing until the morning and that they could not guarantee delivery the following day. I was furious and cancelled this order also. It is now to late to find an alternative and it's too far for me to travel to deliver myself. I am beyond upset at their service and dismissive attitude. On both occasions they charged my card before confirming the order was possible, so I am now left to chase refunds from them. Has anyone else had a similar situation and is their anywhere i can report them for such poor service? I know I'm probably being overly sensitive, but it was really important to me to get these flowers to her before she went in for this treatment :(

Thanks for all the great advice. I have found a local florist and will call them at 9am - hopefully they'll be able to help! She'll be in hospital for several weeks, and cannot bring them with her, but she loves flowers and roses have a very significant personal meaning for her, so was hoping they'd give her a boost. Thanks again!

Any luck OP?

I use E Florist and have never had a problem with them. Why not get them for when she comes out if she’s in for a few weeks?

Redglitter · 06/11/2018 10:09

Would you not be better sending them when she comes out of hospital. Seems a shame she'll only get to enjoy them for a tiny amount of time.

Go straight to a florist and cut out any middle man. Search online and phone direct. Local independent florists are usually very happy to take same day delivery

Email and lay out the issue and ask for a refund, and an explanation. Also tweet them, I've had much better responses to customer services issues when I've gone on Twitter! Is it worth your money for her to only have the flowers for a day before she goes into hospital? And then presumably, comes home to dead flowers?! Something practical to aid her in hospital might be better - books, magazines, a little care package of some kind. Or, a plant? Bloom and Wild have a gorgeous fern I bought for my SIL which she loves!

Never had a good experience with Interflora and, frankly, am amazed that they are still in business. Even when they do have the flowers you want, they never look anything like the photos on their website. This my experience with both ordering for others and receiving flowers from them myself.

I started ordering flowers from M&S. Not perfect but still much better than Interflora.

I've only used Interflora once, never again.

It's just as easy to look up a local florist and discuss with them what they can provide. Far more personal and a better result.

chilledteacher · 06/11/2018 10:29

Bloom and Wild are amazing!

I had a similar experience some years ago with Interflora--booked a bouquet of flowers to go to my mum who was in hospital. They lost all track of my order and... no flowers were delivered. I will never use them again.

Thanks all - managed to call a local florist first thing and they're delivering them this morning. I know it seems wasteful, but she really does love them and I know it will put a smile on her face. Her sister is going to take them home once she goes in, so they'll be enjoyed. I will send her more when she comes out, but that will be a while yet. Really appreciate all the feedback and advice!
