Anything fun to do tomorrow evening alone in London?

Usually when I'm alone in London for work then in the evening I'll either go to the theatre or to a museum late opening. However there's nothing I'm dying to see at the theatre at the minute that I haven't seen already. As it's a Monday night I haven't found any late openings at museums. I don't really want to sit by myself in the hotel room. So AIBU to ask what I should do? I woll havd dinner somewhere but then what?

isseywithcats · 04/11/2018 18:43

Is there a ghost or history walk nearby they are quite interesting and not on your own

Wigeon · 04/11/2018 18:44

[www.walks.com - good London walks company, does some evening walks.

Whatsnewwithyou · 04/11/2018 18:44

Oh a walk could be good! I'll be free by around 6pm.

I would go to the theatre, see something you would never ever think you would go and see. Better than sitting in a hotel room with a mini jack Daniels.

Or just walk around soho, go for a nice dinner somewhere, lots of places you can sit at a restaurant bar on your own, I prefer that to a table, as there are usually lots of people on their own. Sabor is exactly one of those types of places

Have you seen The Inheritance? I know you said nothing at the theatre but I saw part 1 last week & it was really good. Cheap seats fine too & it has 2 intervals so you could leave if you don’t like it.

Go to the Tower of London to see this www.hrp.org.uk/tower-of-london/explore/the-tower-remembers/#gs.tTQldA4

Or barrafina. Lovely bar to sit at with little small eating plates of delicious regional Italian.

Cmagic7 · 04/11/2018 18:46

Curzon Soho Cinema and sushi in soho? (Somehow less weird sitting at a sushi bar alone than a regular restaurant)

Not sure where you are based. I thought this was fab. You go round in silence so easy to do on your own. It’s near to spitalfields so you can stroll round the market and there are places to eat.

There will be fireworks. Have a look in timeout to see where has them on Monday.

Gramgram · 04/11/2018 18:50

Tower of London to see the flames in the moat.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 04/11/2018 18:52

I’m solo in London too tomorrow night but I’m not arriving till about 7.30! If you think of something good send some ideas my way Grin

dawnacorns · 04/11/2018 18:56

Window shopping? Selfridges/Harrods/Fortnum & Mason open till 9

Waterlemon · 04/11/2018 18:58

The curzon cinema on the south bank at The shipping containers hotel is lovely.

Whatsnewwithyou · 04/11/2018 19:01

Lots of good ideas! I'll be near Victoria station if it helps. I'm leaning towards a tour of Westminster with London walks.

Wigeon · 04/11/2018 19:07

Good plan! Do you need food recommendations near Victoria too?! There are lots on Victoria Street, chains at Cardinal Place (Victoria station end) or various places at a newish development down a pedestrian street slightly further towards Westminster on the same side (north side). Or if you are feeling swish, early dinner at the Cinnamon Club - very posh Indian (Great Smith St).

There’s also a Curzon cinema on Victoria St which would be cool for artsy films.

selepele · 04/11/2018 19:09

Why not go to a bar

HoleyCoMoley · 04/11/2018 19:11

Are there any firework displays on tomorrow night

youwouldthink · 04/11/2018 19:13

The Sky Garden to watch the sunset and have a glass of wine. The views are amazing and its a lovely way to spend some time

Floofsquidge · 04/11/2018 19:16

How about Nish Kumar (and others but I've seen him before & he's very funny) at the comedy store? It's a fundraiser for vulnerable veterans thecomedystore.co.uk/london/show/stand-up-for-stoll/

yourealifesaver · 04/11/2018 19:24

Go see Wicked if you are staying near Victoria - I got a walk up single seat one night I was on a work trip and at a loose end. Loved it!

Cherries101 · 04/11/2018 19:29

You could go to the Tate Modern, have dinner in Bankside (lots of restaurants near the Blue Finn building) and then go for a wander across the bridge into St Pauls.

HoleyCoMoley · 04/11/2018 19:30

There is the winter lights concert at the queen Elizabeth hall on Southbank, starts 7.30. You could get a river boat from Westminster bridge.

BananaDrama589 · 04/11/2018 20:07

China town loved looking in the food shops. Also close to Leicester square for cinema. Camden Lock market and wander around the indoor food halls, check what time it shuts.
