Seriously what is with the resurrecting if zombie threads tonight?

I stupidly tend not to check the date of the OP when I start reading a thread and several times I have gotten sucked into stories with no bloody ending!

MN needs to lock old threads like other forums do.

MrsStrowman · 03/11/2018 00:03

I've been caught out a few times tonight too. Funny how the poster resurrecting then often seems to have a username related to the nature of the thread, like someone is name changing and doing it on purpose

selepele · 03/11/2018 00:26

nobody checks the dates but older threads do seem more juicy

FastWindow · 03/11/2018 00:27

Kids, probably.

pippa999 · 03/11/2018 00:51

Yes. I do too. YANBU. As has been said, they need locking. Other forums lock old threads. They should be locked say, six months after the last post.

When you DO click on an old thread, it does tell you, and asks if you want to start a new one. So no-one resurrects it 'accidentally.' They re doing it deliberately.

FastWindow · 03/11/2018 00:53

Perhaps this too will be resurrected in 2022. Like a time capsule Grin

AGHHHH · 03/11/2018 04:07

They should at least have a prompt pop up saying something like "this thread was last posted in 145 days ago are you sure you are going to make a new, relevant post so as not to needlessly resurrect a zombie thread and fuck the rest of the forum off?"

AGHHHH · 03/11/2018 04:08

Does it? Twats.

Tiscold · 03/11/2018 05:30

I dont think it should be locked as whst if the op comes back, then we miss all the juicy gossip Grin.

I know it says at the bottom, thst this is a zombie thread are you sure but when you click post i think it should makeyou sign in again and give you a warning again before you piss us all off Grin

MacosieAsunter · 03/11/2018 05:33

The irony !

Someone starts eg an ear piercing thread and eleventy billion MNers chime in with "there's been a gazillion threads about this before cant you use the search function"

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 03/11/2018 07:43

I just feel cheated investing in a thread with no conclusion!

Obviously I mean that in lighthearted way as this is about other people's lives etc.
