I don't even know who with, maybe just the situation.

We have been waiting ages for an appointment with a paediatrician at the hospital, finally it has come round and it is tomorrow.

Unfortunately, ds is full of cold, temp was 39.9 last night and he was sick. Dh said we are so desperate for that appointment we should still go but I insisted that it's not right and fair so I've rang and cancelled, the secretary thanked me for being honest because loads of people either don't turn up or come with ill children.

She gave me a new appointment, 13th June. I'm devastated. Massive waiting lists for any paeds in any clinics.

Just a bit down with it all.

Could you call the secretary back and ask her if you can be considered for any cancellations that might come through? You can't be the only honest parent out there!

Agree with calling the secretary back - you have nothing to lose. And it sounds like she appreciated your honesty earlier.

Be raging at the government who are decimating the NHS. That wait is beyond belief.

Do ask for them to contact you if there are any cancellations. And call every few weeks to check if anything has come up, keep friendly and they'll keep you in mind. Especially if the weather turns so others might not be able to get there.

What is the issue? The if it is a pressing matter you should do the diagnosis privately if you can. Even if it isn’t pressing you should go private if you can afford it. If the waiting list is so long then they clearly can’t leep up with demand.

Good news, the secretary called back, we have an appointment on 27th December. The appointment vacated by the child who has taken our appointment for tomorrow.

A lot better than June.

Hey that's great news. And good karma.

Hope all goes well with your appointment.

That's great news OP and I hope your poor DS feels better soon.
