To be worried about 18-month-old's eating

... or not eating rather!

Had our 18 month checkup at the pediatrician today, and while she didn't seem concerned about anything, my DS's weight was a bit less than I was expecting (though just based on the charts in the back of the log book). According to the WHO website, he's 80th percentile for height but 10th percentile for weight.

He does eat, just not vast quantities! He's still breastfeeding so I'm not super concerned that he's starving, but should he weigh more? Are all kids just different and I should just relax?!

Maybe he's just tall and slim, was the doctor concerned? If not, I wouldn't worry

Its probably because hes still breastfeeding. My daughter was exactly the same and when I cut her breastfeeds down to one in the morning only (and none overnight) she suddenly started eating loads more.

The doctor didn't seem concerned at all. I guess she would have asked more about his eating habits if she was.

I was thinking about waiting till he was 2 to do night weaning, so I'll see! Having a look at some baby muffin and biscuit recipes now to see if I can get a few more sneaky calories in without him noticing! Smile

My DS1 was similar - 98th percentile for height and 25th for weight. He's now 12yo and still tall and skinny for his age, but very healthy and active.
