to be furious with Yodel

They claim to have tried three times to deliver a parcel but we only have one delivery card. According to the online tracking we now have no option but to drive a 50 mile round trip to collect the parcel - we don't have a car. The parcel is too big for a car anyway so that's why we ordered online.

It's impossible to talk to a real person on the phone and their online chat to customer service doesn't connect to anybody so quite how we are supposed to sort this out is beyond me.

Are they always this useless?

Yes.

I refuse to buy from any site that uses yodel.

SilverHairedCat · 30/10/2018 08:57

Yup. I refuse to use companies if I know they use Yodel. Have done for years.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 30/10/2018 08:59

Contact the company you bought the item from, they may be able to deal with it for you.

user9512736123 · 30/10/2018 09:00

If only I'd known they used Yodel :-(
First and last time I use Groupon.

Gosh, they're all shite.
DPD yesterday "couldn't find our address" my DH is super excited for the parcel and was in the window all bloody day (not even exaggerating) we're on a cul de sac so no way of coming up the street without us spotting then. No DPD vehicle all day.
Parcel force are supposed to be bringing my DS Christmas present today, sent to a national depot on the other side of the UK instead of anywhere near us.
I cancelled plans yesterday for DPD and have specially not made plans today and both days, no parcels.
Bloody useless.
It's crap because as a buyer we accept the shitty service the sellers are using or we don't get the product.

Yodel have responded to being named and shamed on Twitter - fingers crossed!

Name and shame on Twitter or emailing CEO usually works!

I hate hate hate them. The problem that I found last time this EXACT thing happened to me, is that technically you have no contract with Yodel - so they don't have to provide you any customer service. Your contract is with the seller, who should liaise with Yodel on your behalf. They are the only ones with any obligation to you.

SpoonBlender · 30/10/2018 10:17

Random same with any courier though, isn't it? The sender has the contract.

tiggerkid · 30/10/2018 10:21

I started putting post-it notes on the front door asking all those delivery drivers to leave parcels in the back garden. That way, they can't say they've come around 10 million times and nobody was in. It seems to work well most of the time. It's only with some items they don't do it. Other than that, seems to do the trick.

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 10:22

Not even gonna read your post OP, YANBU Grin

RandomObject · 30/10/2018 10:24

@Spoon - yes it must be, but it's only Yodel who I've ever had problems with to find this out!

jaseyraex · 30/10/2018 10:33

Yodel once put my parcel in a "safe place" when I wasn't home. Safe place was in our green bin, which was on the kerb side for collection! Obviously bin had been emptied before I got home and my parcel was gone. Argos were great and sent me out a replacement but still had to deliver it with yodel. Luckily I got the parcel second time around.
YANBU.

ChairoftheBored · 30/10/2018 10:42

We now have a policy of simply allowing anything sent by Yodel to go uncollected. We message the sellers to tell them why and suggest they use a better delivery service. They are just so unhelpful.

agentdaisy · 30/10/2018 10:56

Don't bank on a twitter response.

About 8 months ago yodel were supposed to be delivering my parcel but instead of delivering to me they delivered to a completely different address 2 miles away, which I only found out because the people at that address were honest and delivered it to me.

While my parcel was missing I spent hours on the phone to the sender trying to find out where me parcel was and posted on yodel's twitter. Yodel promised to get it sorted ASAP and make sure I got my parcel. They did nothing except give empty promises. If the people who got my parcel weren't honest I'd have been out £200 as the sender had proof it was delivered and yodel did nothing practical to help.

0lgaDaPolga · 30/10/2018 11:18

They are awful. I bought something on eBay and the seller used yodel. Yodel listed the parcel as delivered even though it wasn’t and I couldn’t get a refund because as far as the seller was concerned I had received it. I finally cornered the courier and he admitted he had accidentally delivered it to the wrong house. They are so awful. I never got a refund because yodel refused to change the status from delivered.

Donna1001 · 30/10/2018 13:16

YANBU

the company I buy dog food from use them.

Two months ago, it took them 3 attempt to actually deliver it. First time it was removed from the van before it even left the depo, second time they lost it, but then found it. Third time they left it at the wrong address, it was only because my phone number was on the label that the home owner was able to contact me (elderly lady, heavy box) & I went to get it.

The home owner says she’s caught delivery drivers before trying to leave things there for me. Same house number, not even close to our street name though.

I complained to the company & they have said I can use DPD next time but this costs £3.99. They’ve given me next month’s for free, but I’ll have to pay after that.

Really annoying that I’ll gave to pay because the ‘free’ company are so terrible!

CandyCreeper · 30/10/2018 13:26

i had problems with them. they couldnt gain access to my address apparently to deliver a dvd... i live in a house so no idea what they couldnt gain access to

AnguaUberwaldIronfoundersson · 30/10/2018 13:36

I had EXACTLY the same - only the 3rd/final attempt card was posted.

I tweeted them and they had my parcel to me the next day!

bluebeau · 30/10/2018 14:27

never had a problem with them tbh
