Landlord not fixing appliances

For the last few I’ve been living as a lodger in a flat belonging to a couple. I’m early twenties, they’re a few years older. A month ago our oven broke, but they said it would get fixed. Then they went on holiday, but said they’d sort it when they get back.

It’s now been weeks since they got back, but one of them is currently between jobs and they’re living off beans on toast or scrambled eggs every day to save money, so I don’t feel like I can ask them to pay to get it fixed. At the same time though, they’re buying takeaways, going out drinking, clothes shopping, so I’m really torn on what to do.

I don’t want to pay for it to get fixed myself, because I know I won’t get the money back, and I don’t want to set a precedent that I’ll pay for anything when I already pay most of their mortgage for them in rent.

Does anyone have any guidance?

Ask. If they dont fix it move. Unless you have a super cheap rent or something?

Don't pay for it yourself, ask them to fix it and like the PP said - move if they don't.

It is not your responsibility to pay it.
