to wonder what's gone wrong with Firefox?

I've used Firefox for years, without problems. Now it's turned into a dreadful resources hog - frequently 100% CPU and Disk use, and at least 70% of the memory. Sometimes I can't even type the laptop is running so slowly :(

I've googled, and one piece of advice helped a bit - to type about:memory into the address bar, then choose 'minimize memory usage'. But only a bit. It's still a hog.

Has anyone found a way to sort this, or will I have to delete Firefox and use Chrome instead? :(

I've had exactly the same problem and I have to use it for everything for work, including the email client we use. It also kept throwing up the "Not Responding" error. I've switched to Chrome for now and can actually get on with my day!

I had to go over to chrome for the same reasons. It's a shame but I couldn't find any solutions either.

I'm finding it won't open PDF links or things like payslips. I have to download them to desktop to read them Angry. It's also flashing up lots of little blank windows when it's opening at times Confused

Turning more and more to Chrome.

It's an absolute pain :(

Sigh. All my logins will have to be copied over.

I saw somewhere (on a link I read yesterday) that even changing to another browser doesn't help unless Firefox is deleted entirely from the system. I can't understand why they haven't fixed this bug, whatever it is. I really like the firefox layout.

Well, the migration wasn't as painful as I feared. Chrome allows you to import all your bookmarks and logins, so my browser now looks the same as Firefox.

I had to switch from Firefox to Chrome about a year ago because it had become basically unusable.

It's really odd that they haven't sorted the problems out.

It's taken me a while to realise the problem was with firefox (DUH!) because I bought a really cheap laptop a while ago, just for internet, when my super-duper laptop developed a problem with the hinge. So I've been ranting about 'this piece of shit' when it was firefox to blame all along Grin
