😩

I haven’t been able to get to sleep before 2am in MONTHS. It’s my turn to be up with toddler at half six tomorrow. I will spend the day a tired mess. Come 9pm I will be wide awake and bouncing witj energy. Rinse and repeat day in day out.

Why!?

It's in your genes apparently, whether you are a lark or an owl.
Fellow owl here OP.
Luckily, I don't have to be up at 6.30am tomorrow.
That would make me feel ill.
You have my sympathies, but it is for a good cause.

I've no idea why, but I'm the same. Thankfully I can sleep as long as I want tomorrow as my DC are grown, but it was torture when they were tiny. Sympathies OP.

I've been there. Don't worry about it and just battle through. Your toddler won't be a toddler forever. It will all work out in the end.

You might have delayed sleep phase disorder. I have it and it’s a fucking pain. I can gladly stay up til 4am and sleep til lunch, feeling fine. But with kids you can’t really do that, so I’m just pushing through trying different remedies. Sleeping pills don’t work on me. My body either fights to stay awake, or they zonk me out then I wake an hour later.

Hello from 215am
Insomnia so annoying
I'm not a massive fan of yoga but the few times I've done it in the day I've slept like a baby that night really deep sleep, bliss
Don't know if it works if you do it regularly or just a novelty to me to deep breathe and unwind

I'm an owl. I am shit during the day, and at my best during the night.

Me too! I could have fallen asleep standing up earlier, after less than 5 hours last night (thanks for the intel, Fitbit) yet here I am, trying to force myself to lie down so that I stand a chance of getting through tomorrow unscathed!

Honestly the lengths I go to try to change my body clock but always will be a night owl. I hate the brightness of the day and feel so sleepy all day. I think it's genes too.

I sleep better after yoga and since cutting all caffeine. No devices in bedroom helps.

Hi fellow sufferers :)

I'm in a similar situation but mine is waking at stupid o'clock ( after taking zopiclone too ) and I've had enough.

I have fibromyalgia so it's unfortunately one of the many symptoms of that. I can get to sleep but can't stay asleep.

I've been taking above mentioned zopiclone for the last two weeks and they are not helping me at all. Will not be asking for more.
My body clock is all over the place and I struggle to get through the day without a nap. Lack of sleep is horrific.

My dc ( 7 and 15 ) love their sleep so no early rising needed this coming week as half term but the worst is when i start to feel tired at 6/6.30am and I have to get ds up at 7 for school so no chance of sleeping.

Thank god for MN.

I suck at sleeping. I can only sleep for about 5 hours straight, then I'm wide awake. Of course, a couple hours later, when I have to get up, I'm ready to fall asleep again. 🙄

My sleeping pattern was ruined over the summer (university student so had a lot of free time), and I've not managed to get back to anything normal!
Started new medication a few days ago which is making it even harder to sleep, I dropped off at 7.30am on Thursday/Friday morning Shock

Hi

I use to be like you, I am now in a different version of hell, which is sleeping 3-4 hours at a time waking up and then staying up till I feel tired then I have to sleep.

The whole thing is fucked might have just slept for four hours and woke up a 3am wide a fucking wake

You are not alone with wishing to sleep during the night

Oldgreyboots. That's when I'd naturally go to bed... as the sun comes up. It's a weird feeling being so against how it should be.

I can't go to sleep before 11:30pm or I wake up somewhere between 2 and 4am. So I routinely now stay awake until gone midnight, usually 1-2 am.

But the other problem I have is that, the older I get, the less I can sleep in one hit because of pain in the hips/back/shoulder - so I manage about 5 hours at night, and then usually end up having a nap in the afternoon if I can fit it in.

Not great and not much help to you other than maybe showing you that you're not that "abnormal"?

Thanks to you though - it does suck. :(

Reducing light in the hour before you want to sleep, & then using an eye mask (and perhaps earplugs) during sleep will probably make a HUGE difference. This is because light inhibits the production of melatonin (the hormone that induces sleep). Similarly you should also never turn on a light (or look at a phone) if you wake up in the middle of the night, or your brain will kickstart into wakeful mode.

Or if you want to try something chemical, I highly recommend diazepam (Valium).

I find sleeping tablets help me but my dh swears by stretching/yoga- he's very anti meds. It does give him a good 5/6 hour stretch which isn't long enough but better than the 2 he usually gets.

^^This is me, I can fall asleep around 10.30/11 and be asleep in literally minutes then wake at 3 or 4am! I have been awake since 4 so it'll be time to go back to sleep for a bit soon!

Kids have been off school this week so lots of lazy mornings..I'm dreading tomorrow though! 😫

Yup I am up with her ladyship now. Mainlining coffee while she plays.

My husband is always saying why not go to bed at like eight when you’re so tired and sleep through. I can’t though. If I do that I’ll wake up at like 2am and be wide awake. It’s so annoying.
