To ask for some medical advice - at my wit’s end

My 5yo DS has had a recurrent sore bottom and the side of his scrotum.
When we went to the doctor we had a Daktacourt which didn’t help. Then Fuscidin which helped more.
Then it came back but worse and doctor said likely it was fungal and have canesten. However swabs showed it was Strep A.
He’s now had two 5 day courses of penicillin and a 7 day course of amoxicillin together with timodine cream.
It just won’t go.
It follows the same pattern: treatment, improvement but never fully goes (remains a bit pink). Doctor says infection has gone so treat with barrier cream. A week or so later it’s red raw again.
It’s been going on 7 months.
He finished his penicillin yesterday and tonight I was creaming after nighttime bath and can see the redness is coming back.
What’s next? I just don’t understand why it’s not going. It’s really upsetting for him as it gets really sore and I’m finding the constant trips to the doctor really hard work.
Has anyone experienced this? Any advice either from those who’ve been there or some health care professionals who can tell me what I should be asking the doctor to do?

Is he being seen by a pediatrician or a dermatologist? It's really the latter you need at this point.

You need a referral perhaps
DD had strep A and the Dr gave her the wrong prescription- 2 week course of antibiotics. We coincidentally saw a dermatologist whilst she was on the course who told us it wasn't strong enough/correct.
She had a 3 week course prescribed and I'm not sure if it was the same antibiotics (but longer) or a different one or stronger dose.
Anyway 5 day course is too short!! I think it's a bugger to shift and your GP needs to research correct dosage.

Ok, thank you - it’s just the GP so far so I’ll ask for a dermatology referral.

Half the time I see my dermatologist she points out, quite correctly, that my GP doesn't know shite anything about skin disorders.

I’ll do a bit of googling so I have a bit more info. I just feel so bad for him. He’s bearing up really well but I know it’s hard for him.
