Just that basically. Home furnishings- unopened, purchased in error by elderly relative, no receipt, paid cash.

I've had a gift voucher for the value from them in the same circumstances

Yes, actually they recently refunded me for something unused about 4/5 months after I bought it! Direct back into my bank account Smile

I've always found John Lewis excellent about refunds and replacement and stuff, even after 35 days or without recipets.

I got a gift voucher for something nearly 3 years old. As long as it’s unopened it’s fine.

I took back about fifteen items of baby stuff months after baby was born because it wasn’t needed and they refunded all of it.

ShalomJackie · 16/10/2018 14:07

I thought they had a 90 day policy

Artesia · 16/10/2018 14:08

They’ve really tightened up the returns policy - strict 35 day limit, and need receipt

#bitter as lost receipt for unflattering trousers and they won’t accept credit card statement as proof of purchase!

ShalomJackie · 16/10/2018 14:10

Just looked and see it is 35 now and with receipt! Puts paid to early Christmas shopping!!!

I returned something ordered online via post and it arrived with the returns department 2 days over the 35 day deadline - they sent it back to me.

I emailed customer services and they eventually relented and let me return it again and refunded me via my original payment method. So it isn't always straightforward - personally I'd try in-store if possible as they seem a little more flexible.

For all those saying you need a receipt, if you have one of their JL loyalty cards all store and online purchase records are stored on a computer system and is accepted instead of a receipt.

Cherries101 · 16/10/2018 14:13

Anything ‘out of policy’ means you don’t receive ‘a full refund’, but you will receive vouchers.

shirleyschmidt · 16/10/2018 14:41

The lack of receipt will probably be to your advantage as they wouldn't know it was bought over 35 days ago. Assuming it's an item they still sell and scan back onto the system I'm sure you'll get a gift card or vouchers to the current sales value.
