People leaving the house - huge tantrums.

We moved house last month and DS 2.5 is still a bit unsettled...it mainly comes out when he has to say good bye to people. He's ok if he can wave goodbye to them as long as possible but thats not always possible like when its 6.30 and you are in pjs.

Today DH left the house early (so DS wasn't distracted by breakfast/peppa/toys) and omg...he just lay on the floor kicking the front door shouting 'I want daddy!' I moved him away (we live in a block of flats...neighbours!) and he just did it again....eventually he just lay in the middle of floor shouting 'go away i scared of you'....Then he calmed down, asked for a cuddle and is now watching the ipad.

Aargh what do I do, he's similar several mornings per week Sad

I’d ignore the tantrum but try and distract him with something too exciting to ignore - a nice ‘choose your sticker’ “Mmmmn which sticker does mummy want today?” No persuasion, no, ”Does child want one too just something interesting- maybe an advent calendar for October/November most aren’t religious these days and can be used any time. I’d avoid chocolate ones though.

Usually I'm fine ignoring tantrums but because it's a new flat/neighbours I think I go into panic mode a bit as hes really loud...not helped by the fact the lady across the corridor also has a 2.5 year old and I've never heard him have a tantrum.

You've given me a good idea though, I've got lots of kinder egg type toys saved up...I could wrap them up in tissue paper for him to unwrap!
