For feeling awfully guilty for taking the day off sick?

Hi,

This morning I woke up with unbearable endometriosis related pains. I've never taken a day off sick before but it seems I need to up my pain relief dosage and need a visit to the GP. Anyhow I called in sick and work said it was fine but why do I feel awfully so bad/guilty about it? Maybe it is because I am new to the company. Also do you think I should give my manager a detailed explanation of why I needed the day off?

don’t feel guilty and you definitely don’t need to give a detailed description. You can’t help that you aren’t fit for work today. You need to rest, see your GP and not worry about anything else.

No these thing happen it's not like you plan to be sick. The manager should understand.... And no you don't need to give a detailed account of why you are not well. It's none of he's business what your illness is. It's only he's business to know when your back. Don't feel guilty every person has time off with illness it can't be helped FlowersBrewCake

Weirdly I have also taken a day off sick today because of endometriosis, however I am awaiting a laparoscopy in a few weeks and might not return until after that. Hope you feel better soon xx

I suspect you're feeling guilty because you're a good person who feels bad letting people down.
Don't! Get yourself better soon, no one can help being ill.

Thanks everyone for your kind words :)

@ohshitonit weirdly i am also booked for a laproscopy in a few weeks time :) dreading it tbh, especially being off after it and the recovery. I just hope it gives me and you the answers we are looking for!
