To ask why there is so much rudeness?

Do people come on here just to be rude? Just to put others down who are seeking advice in difficult situations?

Many times I read posts and people are so unbelievably rude. Is this how you talk to people in real-life or do you feel you can because you're hiding behind a screen? Does it genuinely make these feel better? More superior? Genuine question. I await my response... Grin

Depends

Sometimes you think ffs how many time wi I read about someone allegedly calling their twins Ronnie and Reggie, or ìs Megs pregs? Or someone is so obviously BU, but still argues you just the yourself in knots

Other times, yes people are bloody rude

Splurge77 · 14/10/2018 20:01

Honestly I think people come on here (AIBU) to scratch their righteous indignation itch, be it with or against the OP.

Groovee · 14/10/2018 20:02

I reckon some people who happily say it on here but in real life, wouldn't say boo to a goose.

Newbabies15 · 14/10/2018 20:14

Yes! Agree! Rude people. If you cant say nothing nice dont say nothing at all.

FekkoTheLawyer · 14/10/2018 20:16

Sometimes it's misfired humour. I blame spcial media though for the snotty stuff.

cheesymashandbeans · 14/10/2018 20:17

Ok I will be that one who points at the double negatives in the post above. Does that make me rude?!!

Rosehip10 · 14/10/2018 20:17

Meghan is pregnant

DisgruntledMama · 14/10/2018 20:20

There is just no need! There are so many snotty posts, people and their self-righteousness. It's awful Grin

I just think if you come on an Internet forum asking for advice then you've got to expect a variety of responses. Some people have forceful opinions and people with opposing opinions cans sometimes get a bit feisty, I find it fascinating reading the various opinions. The only time I've seen people get a bit OTT is on AIBU when everyone thinks the OP is but the OP just won't have it... why did they bother asking in the first place?!

Also of course people get braver behind the anonymity of usernames... my double negative comment was very much tongue in cheek... some people would have got that , some will think I was being rude... I would obviously never call out a person in real life who I didn't know... but on here the poster obvs didn't realise, and will now have learnt something! Now embarrassment caused as it's all anonymous!

Every few weeks there's a thread about how mean and self righteous people are on posts... I find the very point of threads like this self righteous in their very nature, the irony!

ilovesooty · 14/10/2018 20:41

Every few weeks? It's getting to every few days now.

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 14/10/2018 20:48

I think the Internet in general makes people rude!

I have to admit though I sometimes find myself typing a response and I realise it's really sarcastic and snippy and really not like how I'd talk in real life (unless I was with family and best friends and I was drunk maybe - but no way would I talk like that with a stranger). I have to delete and retype something that I would actually say. I don't know why, I guess the anonymity breaks down normal social inhibitions or something?

Me too.

busybarbara · 14/10/2018 22:45

I am totally blunt on here because why not. But I do actually believe the things I say genuinely. It's refreshing compared to real life. But if you ask a question you need to take this into mind as I see a lot of people are the same.

For example, show any hint of emotional abuse in here and you will get a barrage of people pushing you to destroy your life and leave your partner. This just wouldn't happen in real life.
