There is a slow cooker, cooked breakfast recipe doing the rounds on social media - anyone tried it?

It just looks a bit rank doesn't it? I love my slow cooker but it's not for me!

greendale17 · 12/10/2018 19:28

Slow cooker breakfast- looks and sounds absolutely disgusting

buscaution · 12/10/2018 19:35

I can't see how it is legit. The sausages look grilled in the pic

Livedandlearned2 · 12/10/2018 19:37

And will all the fat just be sat in the bottom of the pot. I've been thinking about this so will be interested to see if anyone has tried it.

FascinatingCarrot · 12/10/2018 19:39

Oooo good question! waiting in hope

redexpat · 12/10/2018 19:40

Ive done a sc breakfast before but not familiar with what youve seen on sm. It wasnt for me but others enjoyed it.

Kathulu · 12/10/2018 19:42

I tried it, was disgusting to be honest, the sausages never browned and stayed soft, the bacon was the same but didn't taste "right". I was really disappointed- maybe I should stick to porridge.

FascinatingCarrot · 12/10/2018 19:44

I'm going to try it but pre cook the bacon and saus

SpankTheMonkey · 12/10/2018 19:49

Sorry I should have added a link on post one

This is what I mean

I would like to try it, but i cant see how it is going to work, if the sausages are leant against the inside, then only one side is going to brown, the rest are going to be soft...I like them to look well done

seems too good to be true and im scared of wasting good food lol

I have tried it twice.
Thick sausages cooked well and browned nicely.
Bacon (dry cure smoked back) was very dry and flaky and unpleasant texture. Tried second time with the raster wrapped in foil, which was a little better, but still not as nice as grilled or fried.
Beans in a mug were fine.
Mushrooms were nice.
Egg was grey and inedible, so the second time I just fried one separately.
Black pudding was good.
I also put a halved large tomato in a mug and that was lovely.
It was certainly less fuss than do a full English in the morning, but I wouldn't do the egg or bacon in the slow cooker again, the rest was fine.

buscaution · 12/10/2018 20:17

There is absolutely no way that food was cooked solely in the slow cooker.

DramaticGoose · 12/10/2018 20:22

I did it. The sausages only cooked on one side (fortunately I woke up early and turned them) but the bacon went hard and horrible. Otherwise was great. Lovely to wake up to and not too much washing up afterwards.

DramaticGoose · 12/10/2018 20:24

I did the eggs separately because I like a runny egg.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/10/2018 20:25

Yes, it was a revolting slimy mess, don't, just don't.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/10/2018 20:27

That photo is bollocks btw, that was not slow cooked.

Lostnafraid · 12/10/2018 20:29

Nah looks shit.

SilverySurfer · 12/10/2018 20:42

IMO food cooked in a slow cooker is inedible crap so won't be trying this. Also bet those sausages were either separately fried or grilled and the egg looks like rubber.
