Just. Fucking. Why?!

OP posts:
Fattymcfaterson · 12/10/2018 18:38

And when I say clothes, I really mean school uniform!!

OP posts:
hazell42 · 12/10/2018 18:38

Because we have better things to do

whiskeysourpuss · 12/10/2018 18:39

I've managed to get 3 kids through primary school without losing a single item of clothing - never labelled a thing

TheMonkeyMummy · 12/10/2018 18:39

Yawn. Surely you have better things to worry about than what other people don't do with their uniforms?

PenguinSaidEverything · 12/10/2018 18:39

YANBU! They’re always the same ones who complain when their PFB lose a jumper as well Angry

ProudThrilledHappy · 12/10/2018 18:40

I label all of DS’s clothes and shoes as he has ASD so can’t always manage to put them back in his bag.

Without fail when something goes missing it ends up in the big black lost property container for items without names on.

It’s really frustrating that even if I label stuff noone can take 10 seconds to check the label and give it back to us tbh

PenguinSaidEverything · 12/10/2018 18:41

Grin x-post with Whiskey! At my school we do have a lot of parents who seem to hold the teacher responsible for their child losing things and then add that they never labelled it anyway.

TeenTimesTwo · 12/10/2018 18:41

Because if it is not labelled you can 'innocently' acquire any other piece of unlabelled stuff you can, and claim you think it's yours?

User9870 · 12/10/2018 18:42

...and then complain little "Tommy" has lost 2 jumpers this term.

It takes seconds to write a name in a label and can save all your brand new uniform being sent to list property.

TheNumberfaker · 12/10/2018 18:46

If you can't be bothered to label your children's clothes then you have nothing to complain about when it goes missing and can't be found. Sharpie on a washing label is not a lot of effort!

ProfessorMoody · 12/10/2018 18:49

YANBU. If a child in my class doesn't have labelled uniform, I label it myself with a Sharpie. Nobody has time for the lost jumper crap all the time.

buscaution · 12/10/2018 18:50

Why does it matter? It's their loss I suppose.

fairypuff · 12/10/2018 18:50

What bugs me is, when looking through the lost property box, finding loads of labelled items (ours included). Surely they should be checked and returned to the owner? I'm a teacher and I always check the labels before any items go in the lost property box.

BitchQueen90 · 12/10/2018 18:50

I didn't label DS's this year. Couldn't be arsed.

He's not lost anything yet. If he does I'll accept full responsibility and just buy him new stuff. The jumpers only cost £7 and they're the most expensive bit of the uniform so I'm not that bothered.

hazell42 · 12/10/2018 18:51

Never labelled. Never complained.
Putting a label on your stuff does not prevent your kid from losing it. My kids school used to sell.off lost property at the end of term. You'd be amazed how much of it was labelled. The kids never look for it and the teachers don't care.
Life is too short.

Fattymcfaterson · 12/10/2018 18:55

I have acquired a jumper that is a smaller size with no bloody name on. If it had a name of would be quite straightforward (maybe) to just swap it back. But oh no, someone can't be assed to pick up a pen and write their kids name

OP posts:
drspouse · 12/10/2018 18:57

As a Guider, I agree.
I have no desire to deal with piles of lost stuff even if you don't want it back.

NerrSnerr · 12/10/2018 18:59

Our school FB page is full of lost property and people complaining the little Jimmy's expensive unlabelled jumper is missing.

PattiStanger · 12/10/2018 19:05

I don't care if people label as long as they don't complain if they can't find lost items

CallingDannyBoy · 12/10/2018 19:12

We have bags of the stuff - most of it unlabelled and we have to spend our time checking for names and disposing of it. Great use of my time not to mention wasteful. Lost it never mind just buy a replacement disposal society at its best.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/10/2018 19:13

I label everything and never get anything back. So what's the point?

Merryoldgoat · 12/10/2018 19:19

YANBU Fatty

I lost 2 jumpers in the first two weeks of term - stupid logo ones that cost £12. They were proper labelled but I got back unlabelled stuff and the parents have obviously decided not to return them to me.

Basically I have gone maverick.

If I get an unlabelled jumper back I am sharpie-ing the fuck out if it. I also went to lost property and helped myself to two jumpers in the right size that were unlabelled.

Eventually every unlabelled jumper will be mine.

Fuckers.

Merryoldgoat · 12/10/2018 19:20

Obviously if I got anything labelled I’d return it.

Fattymcfaterson · 12/10/2018 19:21

merry you are an evil genius!
I can't claim this one as mine unfortunately as its 2 sizes too small! But definatly liking your Idea

I've rarely bothered and never lost anything except one brand new coat, which WAS labelled. Was a lovely coat, too, DS was gutted - he only got to wear it twice before it vanished, never to be seen again (and I did keep an eye out in the playground for weeks after).
