To wonder if this was just linked to my age?

I’m 36.

I went to join the library the other day and was given (without asking) a child’s card and then had to give my child’s name and DOB.

Did she just assume as a female in my thirties I had small children?

It's probably something they do to encourage people to get their children memberships.

I wouldn't overthink it.

Maybe it was for you and she thought you looked stunning with lovely skin that couldn't possibly be over 18 Grin

Sorry, that's the best I can come up with as it's very very weird. I would never assume anyone has children, you never know how much that could hurt someone that might be struggling.

I joined live very and wasn’t given a child’s card

Unbeknown to me. No fines for under 5s and much rescued for 5-16.

She’s just saving you hassle and expecting you to say no thanks if not needed

Don’t overthink. She sounds on the ball
