So i live in a small town and am freelance. A coworking space opened a few months ago which I was really excited about - except its always dead in there!

The two women running it don't really seem to get what the point of them is (to bring together self employed people who dont have offices) and have prioritised renting the space out for local businesses to hold big meetings (thats one use I guess but doesnt really allow for a sense of community to develop).

So two weeks ago I suggested they make an event advertising a special "freelancer day" (I mean every day should be a freelancer day in a coworking space) to get a bit of a vibe going.

So they made the event on FB and I'm the only one going apparently 😂

Would I be unreasonable to not bother going in? The point was to meet other freelancers but if its just going to be me I may as well stay at home? Or is that cheeky since it was my idea in the first place? I've got 30 minutes to decide 😂

Go and talk about why it is not working.

Gardengirl33 · 11/10/2018 09:00

Show your support and go, some people might show just haven't replied on Facebook. Stick to your guns! Hope it works!

ShatnersWig · 11/10/2018 09:00

What if other people turn up but haven't said they will on the FB page? What have you got to lose in giving it a go? Yes, I think it would be rude if it was your idea not to support it.

MMKMN · 11/10/2018 09:02

Go, make a point!

Piffle11 · 11/10/2018 09:03

Have they only advertised on FB? Do they have a lot of followers? Not everyone clicks that thing on FB to say they are going. I'd go - if you are thinking of using the service/space then there's no harm in chatting to the two women, is there? You could always go, say you have an appointment to dash to afterwards, so you have a get out if it's really bad.

TheQueef · 11/10/2018 09:03

Go. More buns for you.

Ignoramusgiganticus · 11/10/2018 09:03

You've got to go I'm afraid or contact them and ask if they are canceling it.

Luvly12 · 11/10/2018 09:03

You have to go !
Others might show up too but just haven't said on FB they are going. Let us know what happens Wink

Luvly12 · 11/10/2018 09:04

Thqueef... Exactly Grin

Singlenotsingle · 11/10/2018 09:05

Go anyway. They don't really know what they're doing and certainly don't seem to have publicised it very well. An ad in the local press, a poster outside the premises, someone handing out flyers on Saturday morning?. Not everyone's on FB. And 2 weeks notice isn't enough imho.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 11/10/2018 09:09

You have to go as it was you ideas but it sounds like others don't agree with your interpretation if they aren't using the facility or to the freelance day

FullMetalRabbit · 11/10/2018 14:05

did you go OP?

Klostro · 11/10/2018 18:09

Sure did - it was brilliant!
