Graphista · 10/10/2018 18:17
Just got a text haven't opened it. It's from text no 7763 8 (yes there's a gap before the 8)
"Your funds 8598gbp will be removed unless you access your account..."
Can't read rest without opening.
Aside from the cheek I WISH I had that much money!!!
Do I just delete? Contact bank just in case?
Hidillyho · 10/10/2018 18:19
Open it. It’ll possibly have a link in it.
I would definitely think scam text but I’m sure they really wouldn’t be able to take money from you just because you opened a text
MacosieAsunter · 10/10/2018 18:22
If yo u answer it , you have validated your number - ignore and block it.
OneThreadOnly0101 · 10/10/2018 18:23
It's definitely a scam, but you can open the message if you want. Just don't click any links or call whatever number they ask you to call.

Ok thanks all - do I give bank a heads up? Think I will just in case
PJ04JCW · 10/10/2018 18:25
I’m with Santander and they have a phishing email address; you could screenshot and email to your bank then they can investigate?
ImNotonLinkedInNo · 10/10/2018 18:26
Delete!
There was a man on the DM the other day and somehow scammers made it seem like the text came from his bank. It appeared under a legit text from his bank
Never ever take any action on the instruction of a text I say.
Mrsrochesterscat · 10/10/2018 18:27
You can forward it to 7726 - they investigate scam text messages.
Here’s the info: www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/stop-spam-texts/

I didn't like the idea of opening to forward etc and bank advised not to open just delete so that's what I've done.
Shame they weren't offering me an account with all that money in though would've been great!
I've never had anywhere like that much in my account!
MasterSensei · 10/10/2018 18:30
I had a text the other day from 'pay pal' saying they had locked my account due to suspicious activity and to follow the link to log in and review it. Clicked the link and it looked exactly like PayPal but there wasn't the padlock on the url bit so I checked and it was like http:/server22649paypal.com or something similar. Obviously trying to get my details if I'd logged in!

Ignore/delete. There’s no harm in opening it as long as you don’t click any links.
No point contacting the bank.
