peeing in strange places

My son is 7 yr3 and every now and again he will pee in a strange place, he done it in a cup next to the bath, in the bath on the bath mat and today on a roll of toilet paper.
he hasn't been diagnosed with anything, he does well at school academically but struggles socialy, he get is very concentrated on what he is interested in and expects others to do so, at the same time seems to be unaware or uninterested in what anyone else is.
I am separated from EXDH and live with DP (1 and a half yrs now) there are no particular family issues.

he's often hyper and struggles to control his emotions.
He wakes up extremely early in the morning i.e. 5.30 even though he goes to bed at 8-8.30 (sending him earlier mean a 4.30 wake up)
not sure what may be relevant or not, but am at a loss to explain this peeing.

Ahem, never told anyone this before irl but when I was around 8 I went through a phase of peeing on my bedroom carpet. Same place every Saturday morning. To this day I have no idea why. I just stopped. It might just be a phase he's going through OP. Maybe if it doesn't stop in a few months get it checked out, but kids do often do odd things without them necessarily having a condition x

Thanks Rabbity Thats what I was thinking, but when it happened again today I started wondering if I am ignoring a more important issues, I've posted here to see if anyone else has been in this situation

My DGS used to pee in an empty lego pot in the conservatory all the time. He was about 3 when he did it. Not a clue why.

He is 4.5 now and doesn't do it any more!

By the way Rabbity unless your Mum had no sense of smell she probably knows you peed on the carpet!!! :)

Rabbity Weirdly, I did precisely the same!

Mind you, adults will pee where it suits them too on occasion. I just walked through a park to work and there was a bloke standing on the path peeing into the hedge. He could have gone behind the hedge and been hidden but oh no. And on a night out in town I've seen as many women as men peeing in shop doorways.

@ShatnersWig we're pee twins!😂 I thought it just me but maybe it's a stage of development that some people go through. @alittlequinnie, oh she knew alright, she had a nose like a bloodhound back then. Her remarks alluding to a strange smell in my room where probably one of the things that made me stop!😂😂 she's a formidable woman!
