To take DC to the GP for this?

He's been ill for 48 hours, started off as a few spots on his chin and then turned into high temp all of today and spots inside the mouth.

Fairly certain it's hand, foot and mouth. Which they advise not to bring a child in for as its highly contagious and can't be treated.

Would you take your child to the GP if the temperature wouldn't go down? My thermometer isn't working but it doesn't seem to be going down much/at all.

Would I be unreasonable to? Even if I'm advised by the surgery that it's okay?

I will call in the morning anyway for advice but wondered what people thought.

Call in the morning and ask. DS2 had hf&m but it looked a lot like chicken pox (wasn't in his mouth, he had spots all over). We didnt take him to GP, just did calamine lotion etc. It was only when me and DH came down with hf&m that we all ended up at Dr. They said we should have taken him in so they could tell us what it was Hmm even though the advice for chicken pox and hand foot and mouth is not to go to your Dr as it's so contagious!

Coco Thank you! I will give them a call. We're co-sleeping so it's nice to know I'm right next to him if anything escalates without warning.

DH will not be impressed if he gets it Grin

If his temperature isn't coming down with calpol then I would call 111 for advice tonight. When ds had hand foot and mouth he had the blisters worst on his hands but his temp was managed with Calpol. Dh caught it from him and it took him like a bad case of flu, he was very poorly for about a week but no blisters. Hope your baby feels better soon.
