To be a bit annoyed that ...

...DD's nursery have sent her home in just a pair of leggings and no knickers or pull-up on?

She has a sore bum and I requested for them to apply some cream on her but DD who is 3 tells me she didn't have any on and there were no traces of it on her. So being in a pair of leggings would not have been comfortable.

Last week she had an accident no one apparently knew about. She came home with a grazed knee and they still don't know what happened. No accident form was filled out and nothing was said to my husband either. It's just a grazed knee and accidents happen all the time in nursery. But if you're supervising well you would see if someone has had an accident And if not, then you would notice them hurt when you're changing them and record it surely.

It's her 3rd week there and so far doesn't look too good.

AIBU to be a bit 🤨? Or am I being one of those annoying parents?

As far as the grazed knee. - yabvu, get over yourself unless you are able to give a full written account of every last bruise on her legs

The no pants/pull up... Worth a mention in a "she came home with no pants on Xday so I assume she wet through everything in her bag, I have sent extras just in case. Let me. Known if. It's not enough" kind of way as it may open a dialogue without being "that" parent

dementedpixie · 09/10/2018 20:43

I assume she had underwear on when she went. Did they say if she'd had an accident? Does she have spare clothes in with her?

QueenEnid · 09/10/2018 20:45

Erm sorry but I don't think you're "that" parent for wanting to know why your child doesn't have a nappy or underwear on!! Even if you didn't have any spare clothes I'd expect them to provide some out of the spares box. And if nappies had ran out then they can supply one from someone else's box. It's not hard.

Grazed knees tho... meh. They happen all the time.

sidesplittinglol · 09/10/2018 20:46

I'm not too fussed about a grazed knee. It's just the policy of not noticing a child having had an accident. I have not brought it up again with the nursery anyway.

Yes she went in with underwear and had spares in her bag as well. She also had pull ups too. But I have sent them an email along those lines so we'll see what they say.

Honestly I just always think trust your instincts. If the nursery doesn't feel right for you, it probably isn't

ny20005 · 09/10/2018 21:10

I'd have concerns about both incidents.

It's not the graded knee that's the issue, it's that no one knows how it happened when she was supposed to be supervised

sidesplittinglol · 09/10/2018 21:16

Thanks Ny20005. My point exactly.
The staff - her key worker wasn't there on the day it happened so knew nothing. But she's lovely and was apologetic.

Omg my kid falls over and in a split second is up again - I'd not even register it as an accident in my head but will notice later a grass or bruise. And there's just one of him! No underwear thing is a little odd but I'd not be concerned. You've asked, I'm sure there's a reason. Doesn't seem like anything to worry about.

lifecouldbeadream · 10/10/2018 10:14

Honestly/ the no knickers thing would worry me a great deal. It’s a basic care need and has been missed. Assuming..... she isn’t toileting independently yet.....

Neshoma · 10/10/2018 10:27

Being supervised doesn't mean watching your child every second. There's hundreds of scenarios where she could have hurt her knee and no one noticed.

sidesplittinglol · 10/10/2018 18:08

I spoke to the nursery. They assumed I wanted her in just leggings Confused

Maybe they misinterpreted the sore bottom thing ?? Still a bit strange though.

Boreddotcom · 10/10/2018 18:16

What idiots...who wears just leggings?

sidesplittinglol · 10/10/2018 18:41

Who would want to wear no knickers for God's sake. They didn't apply any cream because the one in her bag is unused.

OP posts:
wowfudge · 10/10/2018 18:44

?? That is ridiculous. Not much commonsense there.

Funnyface1 · 10/10/2018 18:49

That makes no sense. You sent her in wearing knickers so why would you want her just in leggings? You asked them to apply cream so why wouldn't you mean just that?

Also, I don't think it's acceptable for them to not know about an accident.
