To not but new tie

So in June DSs academy school decided to change uniform and school name.
I had old schools named clothing to last right through school which was passed to a charity.
School gave us one jumper and a tie.
I'd budgeted new school uniform in June so purchased purple polo tops and jumpers from Sainsbury's.
In July the school announced uniform would be white shirts. I'd already bought purple (the chosen colour) tops so didn't worry too much.
Since going back DS lost his tie. School day the only place I can get a tie is a shop 4 miles away. I don't go near this shop or have time to go for a tie.
I ordered a tie online. It's almost exactly the same just doesn't have a second stripe half way down. Same colour etc.
This isn't good enough apparently.
Online tie cost £3 delivered. Tie they want me to buy I £7.50!!
They have requested we don't send children in non logo jumpers. DS has one logo jumper and 2 Sainsbury's one. All same colour.
Logo jumper costs £14 and only from the one shop 4 miles away.
Surely this isn't right????

I find the whole logo thing with uniforms to be so outdated, I think it's a throwback from when Uniforms were the only decent clothes a lot of children had, they'd wear them to anything important. It's time to do away with it all.
I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. If cheaper versions are available they they should be acceptable. Can you put the extra line in the tie with a sharpie marker pen? I'd try that before buying all over again.
