If you have a child with HFA/ASD and particularly if they are demand avoidant, would you recommend thier current secondary school? If so, why - what's good? If not, why not - what's not going well?
We are at the stage of looking for a secondary school for 2020 and are very lucky in that we could relocate within the UK for a good school (also have 2 younger DC so would probably need it to be mainstream or near a good mainstream).
Would prefer state, mainstream and small (hopefully that's not like asking for the moon on a stick) but if there's a great independent school I'd love to know about it too.
DC is moderately accademic, but not super bright. A bit sporty, but nothing amazing. Struggles socially and with anger management/anxiety, but, as I am often told (to massive eye rolls from me) does not "look autistic" so doesn't often get the support he needs or people undertanding that he has additional needs.
Thank you! Posting in AIBU for traffic, mostly.
