AIBU?
To not want to buy squishies?
notsurewhatshappening · 06/10/2018 20:13
DCS are primary age and all their friends apparently have them. I don't like the idea that they might be toxic plus they are just tat. Should I give in though as the nagging is driving me bonkers?
Haworthia · 06/10/2018 20:16
You may as well chuck money straight in the bin. Don’t do it
MrsJane · 06/10/2018 20:18
They’re such a rip off! They all fall apart. I refuse to buy anymore now.
Hellohellohowareyou · 06/10/2018 20:19
The things that look like dog toys? I can’t bring myself to spend all that money on them!
mikado1 · 06/10/2018 20:36
They are toxic - weren't they banned or recalled in Denmark over the summer?
mikado1 · 06/10/2018 20:37
notsurewhatshappening · 06/10/2018 20:38
If they are toxic why are so many people I know buying them?
It's weird.
BertieBotts · 06/10/2018 20:39
They are toxic and I won't let DS1 have them. He thinks I am MEGA unfair. He goes on about this at length.
I think most people don't know they are dangerous.
Thebookswereherfriends · 06/10/2018 20:39
My dd was asking for one as a friend had one, I was resisting due to them being awful tat that is environmentally unfriendly and pointless. Dd then won a small one in a lucky dip, it had ripped before the end of the day and she decided they were not worth it.

I'm a bit annoyed now that the school allows them to bring squishies in and hand them round if they are harmful. My kids are playing with other children's squishies at school. I'm a teacher myself but my class are just obsessed with Lego cards at the moment!
BertieBotts · 06/10/2018 23:34
To be fair, the evidence that they are harmful is if they are handling them loads and putting them in their mouths, sleeping with them etc - unlikely to be a huge risk from holding someone else's in the playground for a few minutes. I just don't especially want to end up with loads of them in the house.
Why don't you forward the article to the school? They may not be aware.
InspectorIkmen · 06/10/2018 23:37
I keep seeing stuff about so called squishies. WTAF is a squishie?
cookiesandchocolate · 06/10/2018 23:45
They are the most horrific toys ever and my god they smell like strawberry flavoured vomit.
I bought one for my DD and I'm so glad she got over the craze. They are just awful. The smell, oh the smell 🙈
NoNoCharlieRascal · 06/10/2018 23:46
Okay, I had no clue what one was so I googled...what the hell?!

switswoo81 · 06/10/2018 23:47
Are they like those mash ems. I refuse to buy any blind toys as it pains me to pay 7 euro for a minute doll or piece of squishy plastic they have already.
cookiesandchocolate · 06/10/2018 23:49
They are weird foamy toys shaped in various ways I.e a banana, a strawberry, a car, a milk carton (they stink)
You squish them (hence the name) oddly satisfying if it wasn't for the vomit smell.
Did I mention the smell?!?!?
Beeziekn33ze · 06/10/2018 23:49
WTAF - that's a toy?? Why would anyone buy such a disgusting thing.
BertieBotts · 06/10/2018 23:54
To be fair, they aren't normally penis shaped. But yeah - weird.
I swear these used to exist and be called stress balls/toys, though.
MichelleJ79 · 06/10/2018 23:55
My DS was given one as a present, played with it for a while but then left it on my changing bag overnight. The squishie seeped through the zip into the main compartment of the bag and stained some of my DD's clothes. The zip was clogged and the bag had to be thrown away as I could not remove the deposits the squishie at left. I tried washing the affected clothes and they were ruined as well.
BertieBotts · 07/10/2018 12:48
WTF?? Are you sure it was a squisky and not slime? DS1 seems to be obsessed with slime. That would definitely seep, but squishies are more solid.
