Friends 2 year old DD just come down with Hand, Foot & Mouth. She's also being treated for some infected blisters around the mouth area. They are due to visit in 2 weeks time but will she still be contagious to my 2 year old DS? NHS website states the first 5 days are the most contagious but it can be carried for days - a couple weeks. WWYD? Continue with plans for visit or reschedule?

It says it clears in 7-10 days. Also there isn't an exclusion period for it

It’s caused by a couple of different viruses and you shed virus in faeces for weeks after. The child may not be infectious from the lesions by then but transmission via poop is possible, so really good hand hygiene will be a must.

My two DSs have just got over HFM, it took 10 days. I think 2 weeks would be fine unless they are still unwell.
