Gah was v tipsy last night, hubby working away and I find it hard to sleep when alone without a couple of wines.Anyway,I've only gone and ordered a prawn platter and a smoked salmon/prawn platter from M&S Christmas costing £55! There will only be 3 of us 🙈 please tell me it's the food from the gods and I won't regret it on the day I collect

Excellent drunk purchase OP 😂 I’ve never had it but it sounds tasty!

QueenOfMyWorld · 02/10/2018 07:32

Oh god,it's usually clothes not bloomin prawns! Wine

OP posts:
waxy1 · 02/10/2018 07:34

It’ll be good.

Well worth a fiver.

WomblesAreCommon · 02/10/2018 07:35

Well, at least you only ordered one.

Could be worse. Could’ve been that £700 Christmas table centre bollocks someone posted on another thread Grin

QueenOfMyWorld · 02/10/2018 07:47

waxy1 argh no I hope not,one feeds 6 people the other 8 though.Im an Aldi girl normally.

Ooh - link please? Sounds lovely! And if you’ve paid now the money will be long gone and basically forgotten by Christmas so you can just enjoy the yummy food.

Ktay · 02/10/2018 07:54

Do you get a cooling off period? I appreciate you can’t cancel a standard supermarket delivery after the deadline but there’s still ages until Christmas so you might be able to cancel??

mrsprefect · 02/10/2018 07:55

My MIL brings one of these to ours every year and I can confirm that they are utterly delicious-my favourite part of Christmas dinner! Mmmmmm, great tipsy purchase.

BarbaraofSevillle · 02/10/2018 07:55

Can you cancel? They must be quite big for that price as they do one in the shop for £15 (the online food is usually the same as you can get in the shop without the outer cardboard sleeves but works out more expensive - if you only want small to medium quantities, it;s cheaper just to go buy in store and no need to join the massive collection queue) that would serve 2-3 with some bread and salad and they're quite short dated.

Unless you want to be living on seafood for 2-3 days, or can freeze some, it'll end up getting wasted.

They are lovely though, but I usually make something similar for less by buying bits separately.

cricketmum84 · 02/10/2018 07:57

Haha now that is one great drunk purchase!

Personally I would cancel it and claim wine did it. I'm sure it won't be the first time M&S customer services have heard that! You can get one just as nice from Aldi for a hell of a lot less!

SocksRock · 02/10/2018 07:58

That sounds amazing! My last drunk purchase was two packets of sewing pins...

QueenOfMyWorld · 02/10/2018 08:07

I've paid 30,the rest to be paid on the 23rd when I collect.Dh loves prawns and seafood so he definitely won't be complaining! Haven't got link but it's on their Christmas food to order page.hth

Yum yum yum

QueenOfMyWorld · 02/10/2018 08:14

I nearly bought sliced cold meat too so I feel fairly frugal! Grin

OP posts:
ArcheryAnnie · 02/10/2018 08:30

It's a lot of money, but it's a great drunk-buy. I'd just accept that this will be your xmas treat to all three of you, and enjoy it!

(Please feel free to invite me round if you think it's too much for you - always here to help....)

Lweji · 02/10/2018 08:36

Invite the neighbours over to finish off the platter if it's too much.

Otherwise, prawns are also good cold and the next day, in sandwiches, cocktails, pizza, fish soup or stew, paella, etc, etc. Grin

Lweji · 02/10/2018 08:37

More seriously, I'm sure you can cancel the order... if you really wanted to... Wink

PrincessTwilightStoleMyToddler · 02/10/2018 08:39

Ah - lovely. Have found the Christmas food page by googling (weirdly no tab for it on the main site on my phone). Tbh, it could have been a lot worse. This looks amazing, for example...

Eliza9917 · 02/10/2018 08:43

I think my Christmas won't be complete without one of these now.

SpoonBlender · 02/10/2018 08:57

Given there's only three of you and it won't exactly last long in the fridge, I'd cancel the prawn platter and keep the salmon and prawn platter.

QueenOfMyWorld · 02/10/2018 09:35

The neighbours won't be getting any Wink I'm sure it'll keep for a couple of days. I suppose I should be grateful I didn't order the one on pp link! That looks to die for

OP posts:
GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/10/2018 10:05

Will you eat TWO platters OP? Maybe cancel the prawn one? Sounds lovely though, I'm going to have a look myself now Wink

GandalfTheGoat · 02/10/2018 10:06

The £30 deposit is non-refundable so looks like you're stuck with them Grin

Trevorthebikethief · 02/10/2018 10:14

I ordered the same thing last year. I was very disappointed to be honest, I wouldn’t bother again. Overpriced for what it was.

BarbaraofSevillle · 02/10/2018 10:37

Yes, looking at the weights, I suspect it is a lot smaller than the pictures suggest.
