Three threads about Ocado and how wonderful they are, how cheap they are, how convenient they are within a couple of hours.

Very TRANSparent attempt to win back the adult female humans on this board.

OP posts:

We could play whackaPancakefan, and see how long til s/he gives up. Hoicks bosom, polishes vipers fangs, and hefts mallet in a menacing fashion....

LavenderBush · 01/10/2018 13:39

YANBU.

Piss off, Ocado. We all know.

Justanotherlurker · 01/10/2018 13:40

I doubt they are an Ocado employee, looks like they are doing it to stir tbqh

Racecardriver · 01/10/2018 13:42

Is it actually ocado though?

BlackeyedSusan · 01/10/2018 13:49

They have been on you and yours today as well saying their business is increasing..

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 01/10/2018 13:53

YANBU.

Ocado and its misogynist CEO can fuck off with its woke bullshit.

Tanith · 01/10/2018 13:53

I like Ocado.
I appreciate their employee got it wrong on this occasion, but I think the pile-on boycott simply because their twitter account agreed with a 3rd party action is no better than the TRAs boycotting Birds Eye.

Ocado did not take down the poster. They're a decent company to work for, with mostly decent employees. I hate that those people are being affected by this, probably because someone wants to take advantage of the share price dropping.

I wish you'd target a company more deserving, a genuinely misogynist organisation. There are plenty to choose from.

AGHHHH · 01/10/2018 13:55

What's with all the Ocado threads?!

greendale17 · 01/10/2018 13:57

Thing is all the above is true. They are so easy and convenient. I don’t think I can give it up. Makes the food shop so much easier

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 01/10/2018 13:57

I just got a party line email from Ocado: "Last week one of our customer services representatives, in a response on Twitter, inadvertently entered into a debate that did not relate to Ocado, our marketing, or our values. This issue was not for Ocado to comment on and as a result the Tweet was withdrawn.

We apologise for any confusion or offence that this message may have caused. At Ocado we believe passionately in a culture of inclusion and creating an environment around our business that is completely free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation of any sort.

I apologise again for any confusion or offence caused."

Blah di blah di blah.

I emailed back to say that it wasn't good enough and asked when Ocado was going to recognise that sex was a protected characteristi and that I was looking forward to their response.

Aridane · 01/10/2018 13:58

No way have those unsubtle resurrection of zombie threads been started by Ocado

AuntBeastie · 01/10/2018 14:09

Not everyone on these boards has an issue with Ocado’s stance - some of us have been won over by it. So I suppose some of the threads might be from people who support the position they’ve taken and want to show that.

I would believe that their sales are up. Apart from the fact that it’s an easy thing to fact check, it would follow a pattern. Companies which openly come out in support of human rights causes tend to see a boost in sales, even when there is also a backlash. See Apple using MLK, and especially Nike’s campaign with Colin Kapaernick. Despite all the people burning their shoes and vowing never to shop there again, the campaign generated millions in sales and brand engagement for Nike.

I know that on MN there is a lot of concern about the stance taken by Ocado but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that isn’t replicated across the U.K. - and particularly across Ocado’s target market.

TruelyTruelyScrumptious · 01/10/2018 14:09

I didnt get that response, I got

Dear XXXX XXXXX

Many thanks for your email.

I can confirm that I have cancelled your Smart Pass and the account will be fully closed shortly.

Kind regards,

So, trampling all over the definition of a woman, and thus adding ammunition to those who would disempower adult human females for their own ends is supporting human rights? Why do the rights of trans women trump those of adult human females?

AuntBeastie · 01/10/2018 14:24

Every advancement in human rights is met with resistance from those who see it as a zero sum game, whereby you can’t uphold the rights of one group without infringing on the rights of another. When Kapaernick took the knee to protest police brutality against black people there were many who took it as a sign that he stood for removing the rights of white people. Similarly, there are some who view recognising the rights of transwomen as harming non trans women. But there’s room at the table for everybody, and we all benefit from fighting for each other’s rights.

bruffin · 01/10/2018 14:29

Very much doubt its Ocado, just a troll who knows how to wind up the MN posters.

BackBoiler · 01/10/2018 14:31

I just came for a browse whilst on the bus and thought wtf are all these Ocado threads in aid of???

Aridane · 01/10/2018 14:52

pancake is a previously banned poster (MNHQ has confirmed on another thread)

PiperPublickOccurrences · 01/10/2018 14:58

They can canvas at me all they like - their service is unavailable in my part of the UK so they're wasting their time,

scaryteacher · 01/10/2018 15:10

AuntBeastie There are transwomen and then there are women (adult human females). I am not a non trans woman, I am a woman.

I am alarmed by the safeguarding issues that have arisen with the GG and other associations. I don't like the encroachment into the safe spaces that women have; bepenised people (excluding small boys with their Mums) have no place in these.

You cannot in this case square the circle. Many women cannot for reasons of faith or culture be in the same space as a male or transwoman. What about their rights, or are they to be thrown under the bus as well?

Bombardier25966 · 01/10/2018 15:23

I doubt Ocado care whether you're daft or not, they're just enjoying the increased publicity.

I use them probably twice a year, when the cat food is on offer it's good value. Not used them for ages, but these threads reminded me so I did some price checking and have placed an order. Chucked in various chocs and Christmas stuff too, £120 spent.

Not everyone shares your viewpoint. But everyone is seeing these posts. Result, free advertising.
