AIBU?

To go to the doctor tomorrow?

I've had a headache every day for the past couple of weeks, I feel like it started when I had a really awful headache one day that made me feel physically sick. I don't suffer from migraines but think it may have been a migraine based on what I've read about them. It really was awful and overwhelming. Since then I've had this horrible headache every day, not as severe as that day but still unpleasant, feels like a tension type headache, a band around my whole head and a feeling of pressure inside my head.

I also have feelings of nausea which come and go but have been severe at times. Plus a general feeling of lightheadedness, not quite being properly here if that makes sense. My temperature is also raised, every now and then I feel really hot and feverish, have checked my temp and it's been around 37.5 so not a proper fever but definitely above normal.

Any idea what this might be? I have had quite a lot going on recently, been under quite a bit of stress relating to DS1 so I've dismissed it all as tension headaches related to this, but it's got to the point it is affecting my daily life quite significantly. I can't bear any sudden or loud noise from the DC, it makes me feel sick, and I am starting to get quite worried about having a headache for such a prolonged period (worrying about this doesn't help to relieve a tension headache of course!) I've lost motivation to do much and frequently feel I just want to close my eyes and sleep.

I'm not sure what the doctor might say, but WIBU to make an appointment tomorrow and see if they can help?

I am 40 and generally in good health btw. Don't smoke. Only medication is the pill.

I had something similar for 2 weeks. In my case it was a severe sinus infection and I was given antibiotics. In your position I would go to the GP.

With regards to my headaches, nothing worked, nothing stopped them. I was also sick. I did try sitting over a bowl of hot water as the steam can help to clear the sinuses a bit.

Anyway whatever you've got it sounds miserable. I think after 2 weeks you have to seek help.

Yes, definitely book to see your doctor especially if a headache of this nature is not usual for you.

Definitely not pregnant?

Sounds like a migraine to me. They can start at menopause in women who don't have a history of them so ask about perimenopause while you're there. Sorry to be a doom merchant!

I had similar (without the nausea thankfully) - was hormonal, I was pregnant.

Could be any number of things, think the general rule is if a headache lasts for 2 weeks, it's time to get checked out. I'd also book an eye test too.

Thanks all. I actually felt a bit emotional reading replies as I've just been "getting on with it" and hadn't realised how low I was feeling as a result of it all, and seemingly a complete absence of sympathy or interest from DH!

Definitely not pregnant. Definitely not usual for me to have headaches like this. I did suffer with tension headaches years ago when my DF was dying of cancer. I suspect I keep things inside and the stress has to come out somehow.

Did also wonder re perimenopause....will ask about that.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply.
