About secret swear club

I have a 10 year old with learning difficulties, very shy and very geeky. Iwas telling him off for something unrelated tonight when he said he was being moody because he had an argument with someone from secret swear club. I queried further. DS said they had a club (of 4. All very nice nerdier kids) and that they meet at a corner of the field and use s, f, c , sh words at each other. He really thinks this is the ultimate rebellion. DS is not rebellious in the slightest. His dinner ladies stop me in the street to say how nice and polite he is. I told DH thinking it was amusing. I laughed anyway. Now DH is saying he is going to have a big talk to him about why the language is completely inappropriate. Ds doesnt swear at home. I don't like hearing kids swearing myself but hes just being 10 isnt he?

Oh yeah I wouldn't care but then I'm probably quite slack about swearing. You just need to make sure he's using them in appropriate contexts (ie not to the teacher!)

I remember my first swearing i was young and my next door neighbour kept encouraging me to say fuck. I did eventually. I dont think theres too much wrong with it, but its hard as you shouldnt encourage him to swear, but im not sure you are really?

Yes, he is. I think your DH is massively over-reacting.

I would think it's not a big deal as he doesn't swear outside of the swear club and knows the difference. It might not be the ideal way to bond with friends but I wouldn't take much notice and I'd be glad he has friends to hang out with. If it was my kid I'd think it was kinda funny too.
