Feel really silly asking this, but I've just bought a home phone how do I install it? The instructions saying I have to put the phone cord in the modular wall jack thingy, but I've already got the WiFi cord in there? And I need the home phone in my office? Please help 🙈

You need an ADSL filter. There was probably one in your router ('wifi') box.

Have you got a splitter? Basically it plugs into the phone socket & allows you to connect your WiFi and phone into the port?

Looks like a double phone socket.

There should be a splitter box that came with your WiFi router with 2 outputs - 1 for the router and 1 for the phone. The router won't work without it so it must be there!

You need a splitter. Did your Wi-Fi supplier / broadband supplier not give you one?

sunshinemantra · 27/09/2018 15:18

Go with what fishes suggests. I'm old fashioned still call them call them splitters Confused

That occurred to me as well - unless you use an existing lead there's not really any way of connecting the router to the phone line unless you use a filter/splitter.

Unless it's Virginmedia broadband I suppose. Or maybe a BT fibre connection - I'm not sure how those are terminated?

Oh yes! I've done it. But splitter box is in the living room, and I need the phone in my office. I bought a cheap corded phone 🙈 it won't work willl it?

It's Plusnet phone/broadband package

If it's a corded phone then it needs the cord to be able reach your phone socket!
