To expect an offer letter / contract from Local Authority?

I did post under Employment, but no replies...

Interview was in July, last week of term. Received and accepted job offer on the phone same day (from Headteacher). I realised nothing would happen during the 6 week hols, but this is now week 4 of employment and I’ve still had nothing in writing. Is this normal for Local Authorities?! I am expecting to get paid on Friday as it’s the end of the month! Any experience?! Thanks!

Can you ask school office about your contract or who to contact if they don't give it to you themselves? Have you filled out forms with bank account details etc so that they can actually pay you - otherwise they won't! Good luck in your new job.

Thank you. Yes I gave them my bank details and applied for a DBS, but that’s it! It all seems very “relaxed” !

Pre kids I worked in industry and it wasn’t like this!

Hopefully it's all in hand then. I would still ask the school office though, because it does seem a bit relaxed - particularly as you're working with children!

You said you are expecting pay - have you been working?

If LA are anything like the CS then you could be waiting quite some time to start. Call the HR or whatever number they gave you to chase up.

RaggedClothes · 25/09/2018 19:57

PolPotNoodle yes this is my 4th week working!

This happened to a family member last year and unfortunately they were not paid until October! Definitely chase it up with the school office tomorrow.

Still no contract but got a payslip today! Phew!!!!
