To consider buying this house

I currently rent a flat in a very nice area. I live with my friend, but she is moving out - I can't afford the rent by myself. So I would need another flatshare, likely with a stranger.

I have the option to buy. I've viewed a house in a suburb that's not so naice. It's not unsafe, there are still good transport links (2 mins walk to station and in city by 6 mins on the train). There are some bars opening up. However the suburb still has a bit of a 'local' feel and the street is less kept than where I currently live.

To be honest I'm fed up of sharing and moving around all the time and I would like a step up on the property ladder. I'm single and can't afford to buy in the naice area.

So wibu to make an offer on the house?

Go for it

It seems mad to throw money away on a flatshare when you could own. It needn’t be your forever home, but it’s a foot on the property ladder and you can always work up to a nicer area.

Am sure I heard that if new bars are opening it's a sign the area is on the up. If it was me in your position I'd definitely view and put an offer in- do you know the area well?

Go for it.

I don't know the area that well but I believe there are more FTB here as the very nice areas have become so unaffordable. I waited at the station at peak commuting time and saw a lot of young people which I'm hoping is a good sign.

Do it!

2 minutes from the station.....go for it Grin . Is there parking? Might not be a problem now but if the area improves you might be glad to park on your own space or drive. Even if you don't drive , the re-sale is more favourable.

Do it

What' s the area? You could get some more insightful answers, I think.
