Family not making the effort

I am quite a sensitive person so not sure if IABU.

I'll keep it vague so not too outing.

I'm a carer for a family member (older relative, not my chid or spouse), we have a family whatsapp group where we chat/arrange thing etc. I sometimes post messages about my relative, how they're doing etc and this same person always reads but chooses not to reply. I get that they are a busy person (aren't we all!) but they've no kids, so just themselves to worry about. They find time to share photos of holidays or recent purchases etc, but no time to comment on my poorly relative.

It drives me mad and really upsets me. AIBU?!

Yabu - I think you need to accept that they are not commenting for whatever reason and try to not let this upset you so much - it's a waste of emotional energy.

maybe they don't know what to say. OR think it's none of their business. Or don't know you are upset by that. Why not tell them (privately) how you feel?
Also just because someone has no kids doesn't mean they have nothing to worry about or that they only care about themselves.

It's definitely their business. They're the same relation to this person as I am.

And yes @HeyMacWey maybe I need to just let it go. They've always been a selfish person so shouldnt expect change now.

I know quite a few selfish people and think they either know they are being selfish and don’t actually care or don’t know what to say in what they could perceive as an emotional/awkward situation. It’s very annoying I agree !

Their relationship to the elderly person might not be as good as yours. So they read to keep up to date, but have no wish to comment.
