Google Doodle

Today is the first day of Autumn. AIBU to wonder why there is no Google Doodle for this. Google Doodle seems only to celebrate random birthdays of random people. Well random to me. Like the 147th Birthday of an obscure inventor of something or other. Fine if they actually were 147 years old today, but no they died 70 years ago.

Probably because Google is a worldwide search engine, and autumn dates varies around the world..so if they had to start listing first day of autumn for UK they would have to do it for all their other users too...

Plus the random facts may not be interesting to you, but the world is a big place and what is not interesting to some may be fascinating to others...Grin

1 Sept is a better day for 'start' of autumn. Equinox is not a good day to call start of Autumn.

@LoveAGoodChat - Google does country-specific and hemisphere-specific doodles, as well as global ones.

This was last year’s Autumn Equinox doodle, for the Northern hemisphere, on 22 September.

Well they change it for our patron saints' names in the UK (or they did)

They don't do a Doodle for everything - and last years Equinox doodle got a backlash because people use different calendars to assess the start of Autumn.

But really; they just haven't done one today. I quite like the randomness of the things they celebrate - they educate; and intrigue. They'd lose that if they started doing them too often or for things that are too common.

In the States they did a doodle yesterday, as yesterday was the autumnal equinox.
