Friend A and his dp are putting up friend B for a a couple of weeks while he is between flats. Friend B cooks a couple of times a week for the group, goes out a couple of times a week and has food with them the rest of the time. Brings little gifts for them eg chocs and flowers to show appreciation. All of them are out at work during the day. Ie friend B tries not be burden. He occasionally buys food and drinks (fancy cheese, wine) for himself which he offers around but then they get used up by the couple. Is his stuff fair game? This is in addition to wine etc he brings specifically as gifts for them

Friend B sounds like a very considerate houseguest. I think because he has offered the things he bought for himself to the couple, they aren't aware that they were bought for himself.
