Just that really!

A colleague has recently had a little girl with this name, i’m meeting up with her tomorrow and don’t want to sound a plonker when I don’t know how to pronounce the name.

Mee-la? Miller? My-la?

I say Miller but I think I might be wrong.

FuzzBallMushroomP · 20/09/2018 19:14

Meela. Like Kunis.

MaxPepsi · 20/09/2018 19:15

Meela

But I would think I was wrong and it more likely be myla.

Danceintherain2018 · 20/09/2018 19:16

Mee-la

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 20/09/2018 19:16

Meela but then people have been known to give their children names that are mispronounced.

Icklepup · 20/09/2018 19:16

Meela

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 20/09/2018 19:16

Mee-lah. It’s originally short for the Russian name Ludmila, but seems to have become a name in its own right used by non-Russians.

Glumglowworm · 20/09/2018 19:22

Mee la

I know 2 and both pronounce it that way

Pollypanda · 20/09/2018 19:22

Thanks everyone, looks like I’ll stick with mee-la. I really do think it’s a lovely name

Mee-la, but I know someone with a My-la... she gets her name mispronounced a lot.

tillytoodles1 · 20/09/2018 19:28

Meela.

Holidayshopping · 20/09/2018 19:30

Oh-I was about to reply that I’d say My-lar but have now read all of the replies!!

TheEmmaDilemma · 20/09/2018 19:30

Mee-la

As in Kunis.

jq28 · 20/09/2018 19:31

@Holidayshopping I would also definitely say Myla! I like it spelt like that too. Like lyla but myla.

PoxAlert · 20/09/2018 19:31

Mee-lah

Like Mila Kunis

dalmatianmad · 20/09/2018 19:32

I assumed it was Myla?

Feefeetrixabelle · 20/09/2018 19:32

My fail safe method when teaching was to ask what their name was rather than how to pronounce it when it came to names I didn’t want to mispronounce. So when baby is presented tomorrow I would go with and who is this gorgeous little girl and hopefully mum or dad will pipe up with the pronunciation x

greendale17 · 20/09/2018 19:33

Myla

bootsandcats · 20/09/2018 19:46

We have a Mila and pronounce it Mee-la

Amanduh · 20/09/2018 20:01

Mee-la but I know two my-la’s and a mi-ah all spelt that way!
