To think they cant just dump shift system on us

In order to reduce overtime our company want to introduce a shift system. Thanks to selfishness of people longing out the day to earn more money Hmm

We work 10 hour days and already finish at 6.30 anyway. The shifts would include a regular 7.30 finish. It doesnt suit most of us as we have families.

Can they just enforce this?

This won't be what you want to hear, but the answer is generally 'yes' provided the appropriate notice is given.

I expect the public/private sector will vary a little, as will the effect of any unionisation.

Topcat no it isn't but it is as i suspected.

Yes they can with 30 days notice legally. They may give you more. I would suggest you put in an application for flexible working to finish at the time you do now. However it’s likely that will also be refused.
