I know these posts get mixed reviews but the majority of people are usually helpful.

I have PCOS and experience discomfort when i get larger than average cysts - totally normal and painkillers tend to help. However.. for the last 48 hours ive been in so much pain with my right side - the waves of pain have made me stop in my tracks. Also got a few fluey symptoms..which could just be a cold coming, but i know can also come alongside infection. When would you seek help? Not sure whether to ring the GP tomorrow..but then i think well what can they even do? Its such a waste. Never had ovary pain like this before, its gave me a limp and everything.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain.

What's your temperature and which painkillers have you taken?

I'd try 111, that's what they're there for.

Get well soon Thanks

fc301 · 19/09/2018 19:08

Ring 111.
Similar thread the other day. Poor lady had kidney infection & sepsis. Better to be safe than sorry. Take care.

Bombardier25966 · 19/09/2018 19:10

Please call 111 tonight.

Jaffacakesfordinner · 19/09/2018 19:34

Temperature is 36.9 so thats fine. Ive taken paracetamol twice and cocodomol once (4hrs apart). 111 have said to self monitor and call back if my temperature increaaes. No suggestions for pain though - the lady was very blunt with me like i was time wasting. Weeing LOTS too but she didn't seem concerned because i dont have a temperature

Monitor your temp as that will indicate infection. Presumably that's why she's not concerned at present.

Changenameday · 19/09/2018 19:55

Careful that it doesn’t get dismissed as ovarian pain as you’ve had that before as it could be appendix, did it start on the right side?

Jaffacakesfordinner · 19/09/2018 20:00

Yeah it started on the right and has stayed in the same place.

Any chance you could be pregnant?
Eptopic

Jaffacakesfordinner · 19/09/2018 20:15

Extremely unlikely - currently seeking fertility help as i havent ovulated for a long time

It could be an ovary twisting or a cyst rupture, I would call GP in the morning if I were you, I ended up in hospital on a drip for 2 days with a cyst that was starting to twist coz I left it

PurpleNailVarnish · 19/09/2018 22:36

How are you now OP?
Keep checking your temperature and it rises significantly, if you start to be sick, if the pain doesn't settle or it begins to radiate call 111 again.

I'm sure you know this already but you can take 400mg ibuprofen in addition to paracetamol (or cocodamol if you're taking that instead of paracetamol).

To echo PPs I too wondered about your appendix.
Large cysts can be incredibly painful and do need attention.

If you are still the same tomorrow then do see a GP.
Let's hope it doesn't come to that and you have a restful, pain free night.

Jaffacakesfordinner · 20/09/2018 08:17

Sorry purplenailvarnish ive not been able to get on MN all night for some reason.

Didnt sleep much at all, but i think i now have a chest infection too.

Abdo pain has lessened, its still there but not half as bad. Got the dr at 10.15 just to check me over.

Any developments OP? How’re you feeling now?

Jaffacakesfordinner · 20/09/2018 12:40

Was sent for a scan after the GP - it is just a large cyst but still under the markers for any intervention, but its leaning on my bladder so as i drink and empty my bladder its pressing on the cyst. Very little risk of rupture, being scanned weekly for 6 weeks.

Been given some stronger cocodamol for the pain.

Still no temperature but raised heart rate so the Dr has given me a loan HR monitor and in-ear thermometer to keep an eye for 48 hours as hes not 100% convinced its "just a cold" making me feel poop. Rest, fluids, painkillers and call right away if my HR increases, becomes irregular or i develop a temperature.

Thanks for asking. Just got home and to bed

I'm glad your GP organised the scan, cysts can be very painful so I hope the new analgesics work.
Sleep well and get well soon jaffacakes.

Changenameday · 20/09/2018 18:06

Glad to hear you’ve had a very proactive response! Hope you get some relief x
