I try to be brave so that my kids don't freak out but it's not really working! Over the last few days we have had 3 huge spiders in the living room. The first one did a sprint across the floor on Sunday morning. I kid you not, it was faster than Usain Bolt. Just managed to trap it under a plastic tub.

A few hours later one appeared from under DC's school bags that had only been put on the floor minutes before.

And now, as I type this, there is another one, trapped under an old sweet tub. I'm waiting for DH to wake up from his snooze do that he can put this one outside too!

So, AIBU to think that if we actually see this many spiders how many are lurking that we can't see...?! 😱

YANBU. We've had 2 massive ones tonight. I did try to trap them but my dog got there first.

HerRoyalFattyness · 18/09/2018 22:16

Noooooooo don't say that Sad

Im terrified of them. I get my 4 year old DD to capture them and dispose of them for me Grin she is spider hunter extraordinaire

She is also very tiny (only just in 3-4 year clothing despite being nearly 5) and i am very big (obese Blush) so it looks quite amusing when im hiding behind her.

Spider x is your friend here

StylishDuck · 18/09/2018 22:18

We've been invaded too. I think we've had 4 in the last week. I can't get near enough to them to trap them. I just point them out to DH from a distance. He's going away overnight for work tomorrow so if I see any tomorrow night I'm going to have to drag the kids out of bed and drive round to my mum's (only partially joking 😬)

APairofScarletSequinedWings · 18/09/2018 22:19

Awwwww, they're just looking for some sexy time. Just be grateful they're not shagging on your pillows Grin

I have a false widow in my kitchen. I'm on my own. I'm living in hope it dies with no progeny. Any other spiders are welcome.

I relocated a huge, plump-bodied garden spider from the washing line this evening - it was one busy spinning arachnid, but was in full view of any passing, hungry bird so I gently put it on our ivy where it could hide and re-spin. Spider was not thrilled.
Please don't kill them.

chickenfeathers · 18/09/2018 22:50

DameDoom I would never intentionally kill them - they just get evicted sharpish!
It just never ceases to amaze me how they manage to make me jump out of my skin! Every. single. time! Grin

Sorry - didn't mean to imply you did chickenfeathers - just that threads like these always have lots of 'kill them with fire now' contributors. It makes me so cross.
Anything faster than me makes me jump - which is basically everything.

RedPandaMama · 18/09/2018 23:02

We had one on our bedroom wall last night that DP tried to catch with a pint glass and IT WAS TOO BIG TO FIT IN. I hid in bed and actually cried Grin I'm a wimp.

BlackeyedSusan · 18/09/2018 23:11

we have a lot of cellar spiders which eat the massive big fuckers.

sod trapping them under a glass, they are exterminated

Mrsharrison · 19/09/2018 09:33

I'm spraying the house with peppermint oil today. They hate the smell.
