LBG Friendly groups with kids (North East)

Since moving six months ago for work I’ve been to a few parent groups with my children and found them a little bit cliquey not sure if I am being paranoid like I am the odd one out with my southern accent and not having a husband or boyfriend. Does anyone know of any or been to any LBG groups like soft plays?

I think adventure valley in Durham is better than Hall hill farm, a lot bigger although maybe not as many animals but has lots and lots of playgrounds!

I don't have any LBG specific recommendations but here's a list of places you could take your DC, I have 1 the same age (some are a bit further out of Durham and more Northumberland way):

  • Beamish Museum
  • Washington Wetlands Centre
  • Hamsterley Forest (also have some form of trail based on a Julia Donaldson book, think it's the highway rat trail currently and has lots of playgrounds)
  • Durham Botanical Gardens
  • Down at the Farm (houghton)
  • Northumberland Country Zoo
  • Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens
  • Adventure Valley
  • Seven Stories (Newcastle)
  • Broom House Forest Adventure
  • Whitehouse Farm (our favourite farm by far, travel from Durham just to go to it as it's so good)
  • Wet N Wild (through North Shields but they do specific toddler sessions term time Fridays 1pm-3pm which are good fun!)

Great list, thank you.
They would love the Forrest so that’s a definite.
I would love Beamish so will be going there too just looks pricey.

With Beamish you pay once and you can go as often as you like for a year. Totally worth it and one of my favourite places. Fab at Christmas :-)

Ahh this thread is so helpful. I've recently moved to the Middlesbrough area and I'm struggling to find places to take DD. I don't know the area at all.

I've just booked her in for a session at Mess Around Teesside. I haven't been so I don't know if it's cliquey but I know they do a session in Darlington too.

Lovingeachday · 23/09/2018 09:35

I’ve not done Mess around up here but have in the past when I was in Nottingham.

Found a few good groups but mostly weekdays when I am at work - not much at the weekend.

Any other Bi or lesbian parents on here? Looking to expand my social circle.
