Spotify problems on iPhone 5S - posting for traffic

Posting for traffic - getting a bit frustrated.

I bought an iPhone (5S) just before Christmas 2016, so I’ve had it for almost two years now and I’m soon due an upgrade.

I use the phone a lot, and listen to music on Spotify on it every day.

Over the last week or so, Spotify has skipped tracks or paused them when I’ve been listening to it without me doing anything myself to pause or skip the music.

I’ve deleted Spotify and re-installed it, as well as restarting my phone, to try and solve the problem, but it’s still carrying on.

I’ve also Googled to see if anyone else has reported the same problem, and have tried the methods they’ve suggested to resolve it, but none of the methods have worked.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any tips please on how I can resolve this?

Thanks!

Get a new phone? I would expect the 5s won't be supported properly soon. Coz apple are knobs and want your money.

I have an Android phone but also been having problems recently - it stops play randomly, has started playing on its own a couple of times, I quite often lose the mini player in the notification bar so have to go and open the app to skip songs etc. Started when I got a new phone so assumed it was the phone but now thinking the latest version of Spotify must be buggy. It's very annoying

We have Spotify too I've got an old iPhone and it won't actually take the phone update so can't even get the Spotify app on my phone!

But anyway we swapped from napster to Spotify for our Sonos sound system in July, it has had major issues particularly this week with skipping, pausing or just refusing to play at all. We tried using different devices and updating the sonos, checked the router etc etc so it wasn't anything else so we've concluded that it's actually Spotify. So yes it probably isn't your phone at all.

Napster is miles better but it's £10 a month if you want it on your phone whereas we got Spotify for £5, that was the only reason we switched.
