How long to heal a broken arm?

6 year old, 6 weeks post injury and there’s still a definite separation showing on X-ray. 1 bone looks as if it’s healing well but the other doesn’t.
Dr didn’t seem particularly happy but we will wait and see for another couple of weeks.
Just wondering if others had similar experiences with their kids and extended times in cast?
Both bones were completely broken in forearm and they were manipulated back into a reasonable alignment.
Looking at X-ray I would be surprised if it were removed at 8 weeks (but you never know!!)

I guess I am hoping others will have had a similar experience where cast just stayed on a bit longer but bone fused together without further intervention!

I was going to say usually around 6 weeks in the first cast, then they look again. Most youngsters with a straightforward break are mostly healed and might move to a velcro splint / bandage........

Hwever, it seems your dc is going to be in the 'exception' group.
