Am I the only one? Anyone know how I toughen his immune system up a bit?
After two years of nursery, I thought we’d had every bug/ Lergy and cold going. One week at big school and he’s got a streaming cold and lost his voice. Is this my life now? Freshers flu at 4!
He eats well, sleeps well, is enjoying school so far, but I really can’t be as soft with time off now he’s at school! I’ve just bought some vit c chews to boost him a bit but anything else I’m missing? Am i destined to spend another winter washing sleeves covered in snot?! And holding tissues while he “blows” Sad urgh why do kids have so many germs!!!

New environment, new germs. It’s how it goes. It will settle down.

Yep, I think you have another couple of years ahead at least. Sorry !

Both of my children's immune system seemed to improve at about 7 but saying that my youngest age 9 has said she feels like she's got a cold....8 days into the school year. Sad

Yes, another winter of illness. If it's any comfort next year will only be half as bad and from Y2 onward he will be pretty much bomb proof.

In no way helpful but my four year old has this too. I thought as a boarding school pupil I’d been exposed to every germ under the sun but still got freshers flu. New people new bugs.

Eatmycheese · 15/09/2018 23:34

All three of mine now have exactly the same for precisely this reason. Only one og them is at school so years of this to come .......,

Try a multi vitamin that has zinc in it. I use vitabiotics wellkid immune on my dd and she hasn’t been unwell since. Think they are suitable from 4 years. She started school last year and didn’t pick up one bug just had a runny nose.

Teach him to wash his hands properly - best way to avoid germs

GreenTulips · 15/09/2018 23:41

Yep new germs pool! Teachers get it too!

The only cure I know for Freshers' flu is pints of snakebite , probably not best for a four year old
