Just got back from colleague's hen. We went for afternoon tea and then to a pub but the atmosphere was a bit... meh. The hen doesn't drink, neither does one of the other girls, and the other one was pregnant! Despite being colleagues and getting on, we don't actually socialise together, there is not one unifying thing that we have in common. I agreed to go out for afternoon tea but when there was talk of going on to somewhere else and then staying out I just wasn't feeling it. I have a family meal tomorrow and I'll be up at 6 with the kids.
Was it rude for me to go? I just knew that there would be a lot of awkward silence before everyone loosened up. I didn't think the hen minded (she looked like she wanted to go too!) I'd been there since 3 and I was done.
