Bridezillas and happy marriage

Was reading the other thread about a bridezilla and it reminded me of my own experiences with a bridezilla in years past who told me what I could and couldn’t wear as my original dress might ruin the photos, even though I wasn’t in the bridal party and only ended up in a couple of group shots anyway.

Thing is the marriage then only lasted a couple of years and I’ve since thought that her antics demonstrated something no one saw at the time: that she was getting married for the wrong reasons and trying to fix a relationship that wasn’t successful even before the wedding. During her second wedding years later there was no drama and her second marriage is so much happier too.

So now I wonder if Bridezilla marriages are usually doomed. IABU? What’s your experience?

Sometimes. SIL was the ultimate bridezilla though (300 wedding guests, multiple pre-wedding parties, 3 years of planning, several expensive hen and stag parties) and her marriage is going strong

I knew a horrific bridezilla and her marriage is still going strong.

She was quite well suited to her partner in that he pandered to her quite a lot but to be honest I just think settling into a real actual marriage (rather than focusing on the wedding) and having kids forced them both to grow up & turn into normal people! Grin
