I've been left wondering whether my manager was taking advantage of me when I was younger. Used to work in a shop, and at the time didn't realise it, but having staff searches (which are normal in retail for anyone who's worked in shops), but I always seemed to be pulled up for a search

As in being told to strip off your clothes?

Still not clear - but if it did involve getting undressed for a checkover, then yes that's predatory and very illegal.
