Pregnant potential zika destination

Name changed as I've just found out I am pregnant, and this weekend we are meant to be booking a Christmas holiday with the extended family (parents, sisters, uncles, aunts and cousins). We are more or less set on Thailand... but after seeing the midwife she mentioned it has potential zika virus concerns (as most of south east Asia and south america).

Not keen on telling the wider family as it is all early days yet, and don't want to slouch off the trip (parents and sisters will be fine, but don't really want to tell everyone just yet).

So... my aibu ... How do I bow out gracefully..
Any destinations for winter sun would be appreciated, could throw them in the mix!

I have this same problem but mine is for a hen do 🙈 I've tried to kind of say I'm not sure if I can go so will book later on if I can? Can you do something similar?

Just say you're ttc. And you should avoid travelling to a destination with potential zika for 6 months before conceiving. As it says quite clearly on the NHS website.

I wouldn't even entertain the idea of going to zika affected area. Not for a second.

We only tend to do the big family meet up once every 5 years. The more I think about it, the more I'd like to go. Last time was in 2010 and was a blast...

Am googling Zika free places!

What about Mauritius? It's a great place for winter sun and no Zika.

I had to cancel our summer holiday due to being pregnant and zika. Zika rules out many many places.
Sri Lanka didn’t have zika when I last checked but did have a bad dengue fever outbreak ( which is bad if pregnant).
South Africa is ok in some places but some parts have awful water shortages.
Maurituis has no zika so seems to be main place for beach seekers. It’s a small island though with limited things to see so you have to want to go to lay on a beach.

Otherwise Europe, parts of US.

Update. Told my immediate family who are overjoyed, and then we spoke about the holiday. They are all happy to push for a different area (sis went to Thailand a year ago too which helps).

Mauritius, Dubai and Malta are on the list... As you can see we are struggling for options! So any other recommendations are helpful!
